Oh crap! More trolls. Just can't get over them.

Just something done for my own amusement. Everyone knows your basic high fantasy troll. They're big, stupid, heal really really fast and have a serious allergy to fire.
This is a kinda conceptual study as to how trolls evolve to compensate for their weakness. I put them on a kind of mugshot row to give the right idea of their size.
From left to right:

Basic troll: Just as I said above. Big, stupid and flammable.

River troll: Next step in troll logic. Go some place wet, so fire won't work(yes their genes are as simple as they are). These trolls have developed gills, and their hair resembles seaweed.

Snow troll: Another step in troll logic. What's the opposite of hot. That's right, cold. Go someplace very cold ie. with snow and a colder than average climate. These things have grown themselves a nice white furcoat and great cold resistance.

Rock troll: The epitome of troll evolution, with skin that closely resembles stone and has mineral qualities. This effectly prevents them from catching fire and feeling anything less than a direct hit from a cannonball.
