An exchange with Drahcir. He wanted his character (the mithril dragon) battling Metal Overlord from Sonic Heroes. Ever up for a challenge, I agreed. The result is a bit more demonic-looking than I'd intended. Maybe it's the moon combined with the glowing eyes and bat wings. It's been a while since I did a real dragon, and it's fun doing all those burly muscles.Edit: I added some green to Mecha's neck, because it looked rather flat to me. I also darkened Drahcir's right wing so the left wing would look like it was catching the moonlight. I also dodged and burned a few spots. Yay.

Overlord is much cooler than Biolizard or Chaos, so its a disappointment I can't find a lot of good fan art on him.
All the more reason to fave those that do draw him! ^^

Can you give me a tip on how you did the grey shadings on the dragon, which look like clouds/scale likes? If you have time though.
This is simply amazing. I like the scenery and the action it has in it. Excellent job as always.

Sure!
First I put on all the values, so I knew where the shadows and highlights were. (This is in Adobe Photoshop, BTW.) Then I took white, took a soft brush and clicked it a LOT to leave lots of little white dots. Then I used a darker blue to stipple in the midtones, and used black to stipple in the shadows. Then I picked up reds and purples from the background to put in the backlight in the shadows.
Sickeningly simple, I know. I should really make a brush or two to make better scales. :-p

Nah, I don't think you need to make some brushes to make better scales, you could if you wanted to though. For me, I think the way you did it is just astonishing.

Your hand must be DEAD from the detail on this pic. x.x The teeth on both of those creatures are fantastic!! I love how uniform they are. And the spines on the tip of the drgon's tail really express its volume and movement so well! And not to mention the poses... 
And you don't know how much your colouring is improving!! The finish on the dragon's wing is awesome~~~ and amazing job w the reflex lighting! AND THAT BG!! I LOVE the purple hues, they work so well!!
