I know the perspective in this sucks, so there's no need to point that out. I spent hours and sheets of paper trying to figure out how to place RK in such a way that you could see his eyes, claws, and jets all at once. Maybe I should have gone with jets and claws, or eyes and claws, because eyes and jets ... ehhh.Anyway, this pic involves a new coloring technique I picked up from looking at the fantastic art of ryanchurch.com. I'd love to buy his tutorial DVDs, but barring that (and my lack of free cash), I'll see what I can pick up from his pics and other tutorials around the net. You start as dark as you can go, and build up to the highlights, layer by layer. Rather tedious, but look at how nice it comes out!
This is a scene from my fic Worthless, [link] when Shadow is running for his life and Robo Knux is hunting him. Except because of the perspective, it doesn't look like that. >.>

Love how you did the coloring on this, especially on Robo's muzzle and the light coming off his eyes. I think the perspective is fine myself. Maybe a little off, but who cares? The message still conveys and it's a great piece.

I think the perspective turned out really well! Trying to get in all of those features would be tough, but you managed to do it, and it looks awesome. =]
Shadow's expression is amazing. You can really get the feeling that he knows he's in trouble. You did an absolutely excellent job with the lighting in this and the way the glow from Shadow's jet sneakers and Robo Knux's jets is distributed. There's an incredible level of depth here, and I like the city in the distance.

How come no one ever draws the Tails Doll? Poor thing, doesn't ever get any love...
Why does everyone want to make a Metal Shadow? Doesn't really make any sense to me. Then again, Metal Sonic and all of the other badniks and Mecha bots can rust in the rain for all I care - I have a villain of my own in my universe (if I ever get the stupid thing on the net...)
No offense, but half-flesh half-metal Shadow looks kind of - freaky. I would read one of your fics to find out more about what happened, but, again, no offense, but I don't really have the time nor the patience to anymore.

Also, it may just be me, but RK looks like he doesn't have any legs.
Overall, I really like this picture! I wish I could find out how to color like that. Well, right now, I just wish I had a scanner.

You've got some really great detail in there, and the lighting and smoke effects seem really natural. The light bouncing from Shadow really catches the eye and Shadows shoes are really well done! Theres so musch to comment on! This is a fave & cherish for sure!

Yea, I thought they were racing by way of the perspective. If you look at it like that, or RK is just supposed to be side by side with Shadow anyway, then the perspective is great! I think. But what do I know. Yes indeed, the coloring is great! I like the eye streak from RK. That's wicked.

Thanks for the nice comment! My hatred of this pic is slowly abating, because even if I didn't accomplish what I wanted, I did accomplish something else, and I'm liking the something else. If that makes sense. XD
Shadow has robotic implants in my fanfics, for two reasons. First, they increase his angst level exponentially, and second, it saved me the trouble of making a Mecha Shadow. Makes for some confusing art, though, and I apologize for that.

Yea, I know what you mean. I tend to do the same thing all the time when I'm painting. ...For the... maybe twenty times I've actually just buckled down and painted. Lesson one learned: fingers make working with arcylics a whole lot more fun!

This is VERY good ^^ The colors and perspective of the whole image is just outstanding! You did a very good job with all the details as well. The lighting and shading looks so realistic and precise. And I cannot get over Shadow's airshoes! The way you made them flow is just outstanding <3 Shadow looks awesome the way you drew him as well, even though he's half robot in the picture *just noticed that*. Robo Knux looks great here too! You did a great job portraying their race ^^ I'd say more, but I'm at a loss for more words to say. Really good job. Spectacular work ^^

I can't get over the metal and RK's jets!!! The way you rendered the reflections and lighting is nothing short of amazing. I is jealous. >< The after image of the bright irises of the robot eyes gives a nice touch of speed. Great job NR!!
