Description
The Alpha Guardian is the one who is not so readily visible. And he's the one who will kill you. The dragon is just a distraction.
My thought process for this pic went like this: "Shadow has a gun. But Knuckles was Sonic's original rival. Therefore Knux deserves an arsenal, too!"
And give Knux a hat, too, and yep, I can see him and Shadow facing off at high noon with their weapons of choice.

Thanks! When Knuckles was first introduced in Sonic 3, his profile said he was "Strong, athletic and clever". Somewhere along the line, Sega dropped the "clever" bit. But I like to keep it in. In my fanfics, he's always off translating ancient echidna writings or programming computers when he's not breaking rocks.

So, I saw the emerald and I was admiring how pretty it was in my head, right? But all the sudden, in the middle of my sentence, I see Knuckles pointing that--

This pic looks really cool, don't get me wrong... But honestly, the fact that Knux has never used any weapons other than those of his natural body makes him WAY tighter than Shad, in my opinion. Unfortunately, not many people agree on that one. You know what though? Give Shad all the shit he wants, and I bet Knux could still kick his ass. Well, alright, I admit that the fight would be close. But Knux is just so friggin' strong and tough that I doubt Shad would know where to start on him.

In my opinion, you should have added on blue buttons with yellow stars on it to make the hat Knux's Hat from the Sonic Movie. But that's just me, this picture is astounding as it is already. Chimera in the background is amazing, and the Master Emerald glows so beautifully.
I also love how the background looks like the one from the games. (which I'm guessing that you looked up screenshots and based this off of that ;D )
The gun is the only part I'm iffy on, since to me Knuckles isn't the sort of person who would carry a gun.

Very nice. I always had a soft spot for Knux with that hat. It so fit him in Sonic the Movie. The gun I'm a little harder to buy into, but then again, I was the same way with Shadow when he first started using one.
I have to ask this though and forgive me if I'm wrong. I haven't been keeping up with your fics since the one where Zeph becomes fully flesh again. Is that Chimera guarding the Master Emerald?

Yep! There's no other dragon Knux would let near the Master emerald. Heck, I doubt he'd really ever let Chimera near it. This pic doesn't have anything to do with any fics. It's just a fun pic.
