Any constructive criticism will be much appreciated! I'd like to know what I have to work on, what I'm getting right... so I continue to grow as an artist.

Thanks!

Well, traditionally one wishes to know what one did wrong to grow...however, you may be right in this case as I can't find much that is wrong. Quite entranced by the beauty of the picture and actually had to CHECK which category this was in to ensure it wasn't an aerial photograph. Well done.

The colours are vibrant without being cartoonish, the reflections within the water are superb and add a not immediately noticeable dash of realism and the composition suggests sweeping grandeur but doesn't look forced or contrived.

Absolutely stunning. The only thing I could really critique is that the sunlight seems like it should be creating umbrae from the hills, in a sort of "god ray" effect because it seems quite low. There's something about the level of haze I'm not so keen on.

Thanks! I actually spent some time trying to get the right haze effect, but couldn't get to it.
For the god ray effect I think I would've needed more clouds blocking the Sun.

Possibly. When I said "god ray" I just meant the ray effect from the umbrae cast by the hills given the sun position. It should show up in the haze.

WOW ! Really nicely done. It is a really nice image and I like it a lot. Very difficult to give constructive critisism on such a nice image, but if there is something, I would say try and create a specific focus point, but that is really just nit picking.

Hey, thanks for the "nit pick"

I'll keep in mind adding something more interesting as a focus point. I thought adding the mountain on the foreground was doing that, but it does feel like something's still missing

I love the feel of the scene. The lighting is good and the scale of the atmosphere seems 'right'. My only suggestions for this would be to try and adjust the scaling of your ecosystems. They seem too uniform for reality. Attaching a fractal function to your variable size and density should do the trick there. My other suggestion would be to match the trees on the center spit a little closer in size. Another suggestion I have would be to perhaps, give the water some anisotropic highlighting and if it is freshwater minimize the foam. VERY nice render!

Thank you so much for your input!

I'll keep in mind the fact about the uniformity of the ecosystem. This is true; nature is not very "regular". I populated the trees manually, so for the next I'll try using the Automated Population.

The problem is probably more the lack of variety of species; tropical environments are extremely varied (I know, vue plants cost alot!).

Another point: add something (e.g. a ship) to better give the sense of the scale; I always add some familar object (e.g. humans, vehicles or buildings) to my renders to provide a size reference.

Last: at the presumable scale of the image, waves on a calm see are too small to be detectable; unfortunately in your image you notice them.

A few tweaks and it will be really good!
