I've sometimes used one lineart layer for two characters, but that can be so ugly if you use colors in the lineart xD

yeah the airbrush makes crisper lines than the pencil tool~ XD... nah it's the stabilizer that does the magic with the lineart~

For your question: That option doesn't exist on DA anymore. I think they turned it off 2 years ago cause too many people abused it to get more attention. They used works of pros for their preview and then their own works for the real pic....

Q: How do you do linearts? I personally find them very tedious and don't know any other methods other than tracing the whole sketch...

Oh... yeah it is basically just tracing the sketch. XD ... I dunno it kinda comes naturally once you get used to doing it.

Instead of using the magic wand to select the layer, the same thing can be achieved easier by ticking the "Preserve Opacity" box left of the Clipping Group box, above the Selection Source box, and under the Opacity slider.
This locks the transparency of the layer, but you can still paint on it. (Same thing as that one button in photoshop that I forget the name of, but is in the same location.)

Ohhh the stabilizer sets the smoothness of your brush strokes~ the higher the smoother! It only works with tablet though >_<
