Depends, I used a lot of layers back through the years, but nowadays I try to use as little as possible. If I can - I use as little as 1-2 layers. In each of these I used no more than 2-3 layers.

This... this is absoloutly amazing! It's gorgeous the colouring is so... so intriquite and... Ough! I just could eat it up! You portrayed the sins perfectly with each following brush stroke... oh gosh... I wish I could colour like you... I'm so young and have a long way to go, but no teacher... could you help me?...

I'm 10 years older than you and I paint with Photoshop CS3, I use just the standart brush sets.
