Description
I hope this tutorial will help you! It is particulary for gemstones(not jewels) but you can expand the idea into benefiting from this tut... you can use it for all sorts of glassy ongects and even eyes!In cace you are wondering where the eyes staring at you above are from - it from my latest picture I am currently making (the 2 rings are from there too. i might make a tut of making jewelry if anyone is interested). It has a lot of gemstones in so i decided why not ,make a tut ?
Please, if you use this tut DO SHOW ME THE RESULT

Wow, this is wonderful! I am currently in the middle of a photo manipulation in which a horse is wearing a large round gem around his neck. It will be posted shortly.

Hi! You've got the best Gemstone tutorial I've found on dA! The result is really awesome. I just have two questions about it...
First: At the step 5, what is that window that is opened? It may seem odd, but I've never seen it before...
Second: How can I do an onyx gem? Because onyx is a really dark gem that hasn't big contrasts, So I'm not sure how to do it.
Anyway, thanks!

Thank you! I am really glad you find it useful! I would love to see your result!
The window opened is the brush settings in PhotoshopCS3. I showed it to see the brush i use so that you can have a similar result.
Onyx? well onyxes don't look so much like gems but it is possible. Even possible to do it the same way I showed because they also have small particles and lines inside. But they are just darker. Actually I think that if you look at the top of the tutorial, at the 2 rings next to the title, the ring with the dark gem kind of looks like an onyx. I hope that helps.
BTW I haven't seen that tut in a while and I noticed that I have a looooooooot of typos

Thanks ^^
Oo
I hadn't seen it. Yeah, it really looks like a onyx! Be sure I'll give you link to what I've done if I use it (you may have misunderstood me, I should have said 'your result', because I haven't yet tried it). ^^
Anyway, great tutorial!
