Description
This is the first version:Many people talked about the text being too small and I thought it was pretty crowded and scattered (though I still think it was a good first attempt). So to make a better poster, I condensed the crap out of it, both in text and in images to make essentially the same points but with less space, more pictures, and fewer words. I also uploaded a MUCH larger version so you guys can print your own though I DO have it available as prints over at Redbubble:
Buy it here if you like it
POSTER @ REDBUBBLE: [link]
Anyway, I think it turned out really well so what do you think?
EDIT: Cheeseheads are Green Bay Packers fans (football) and the Blue Army are fans of Aerosmith
EDIT2: A lot of people today have commented that they can't believe that anyone would consider KH girly, but it's been more than a decade since it came out so many people forgot or were too young to remember. It's a "Disney Princess" game that uses the word "heart" a lot and has touchy feely "I LOVE YOU MAN" bromance between the main characters. Obviously it's awesome, but I've seen guys who couldn't get past that and wouldn't play the game.

As I said in the description: It's a game about Disney Princess and features hearts and feelings and bromance between Anime pretty-boys. It's pretty girly, but no one thinks of that now because they gave it a chance and it's become widely accepted.

If I posted my comment after that edit, my bad, I'm usually decent with reading the description before commenting, But I can understand your perspective, I came across it at a young age, and no one I ever talked to when it came to gaming see KH as girly, And most of the people I've encountered who enjoyed KH are male, and most of my freinds now have enjoyed the game.

Hah, this is great. I don't watch MLP (would, if I was in the same room with a TV playing it) but I'm fine with those who actively choose to watch it.
I do, however, play Kingdom Hearts. Guys who can't get over the occasional bromance are just too insecure.

Guys who can't get over most any of this are pretty insecure. That's most of the reason why there's brony hate in the first place.

Reasonable reasoning. That's pretty lame of them, though.
But I suppose another reason people have issues with FiM is that it's practically everywhere. Because of that, it can get more annoying that it should. Same with any popular and active fandom. It sucks. :/

Nimaru In reply to SuperSarcosmic [2014-01-26 01:15:10 +0000 UTC]
Yes, the "it's everywhere and that annoys me" issue that I mentioned in my poster. I can certainly relate as I hate all things lego that aren't lego toys (lego games, lego shows, etc). But I don't hate on the fans for it and I tend to keep it to myself because it's not my place to give people a hard time for liking what I don't.

I do think that it would be hard to deny someone's adverse feelings the further you go down the fandom extremes. I just personally take issue with people who are violently intolerant and assume the whole fandom exists only at the extremes.

Avatar is pretty awesome. Probably my favorite American animated series ever. But why would you bring up sexual things in this discussion? There's no relation to these shows and whatever sexual things you find distasteful.

i bought sexual things up because alot of bronies i know of look at my little pony porn and i think that is pretty gross. the person who made this info about bronies said on rule 34 there's porn of everything even teletubbies or koolaid guy ewww. thats why. and yes avatar is amazing, i loved the first episodes the most.

Nimaru In reply to arabianwolf4 [2014-01-26 01:13:40 +0000 UTC]
My point is that people constantly bring up sex and MLP, but there's no correlation other than your standard R34 folks;just like in every fandom. It's no more fair to just bring up fans doing sex things in the MLP fandom as in sonic, or anime, or anything else. Yes, they're there, but they're a statistically insignificant percentage. And your avatar is pretty awesome as well

The only thing that annoys me about the brony fandom is that I can't go ANYWHERE on the internet without seeing some kind of reference to it, especially on dA, where half of the 'What's Hot' section is often related to My Little Pony. Other than that, I don't mind. I watch the show every now and then, I don't hate it, I don't love it.

Topic Kingdom Hearts, kids are cruesome these days. The other day, I started a new game of Kingdom Hearts 3D, sitting in the bus on my way home. Two boys (maybe 6,7) are looking over my shoulder: "Uh, Ariel. Girlgames... This man is playing girlgames" etc. What should you do in this situation?
To the topic Bronies: I don't watch the series, but I enjoy the comic strips here on devArt and I am knowing some bronies. So if you like MLP, it's cool. Stand by your opinion.
I don't judge people because of their fandom. I just hate people who are saying "You have to like XYZ more than ABC."
Just my 2 cents

This was very well written and addressed some amazing points. I'm a woman and I've still gotten a lot of flack for watching this show as an adult. People even joke with me that I could just use my daughter as an excuse.. but really, MLP: FiM is one of my favorite shows of all time. The fact that people use a minority to define the whole just speaks to common problems that are prevalent in our society... It's so easy to be critical, some people just love to hate things, I think. I think that, no matter the reason for enjoying the show, even if people do like more adult-themed ideas about it, as long as they're happy and not hurting anyone else, why does it matter to anyone else? It baffles me that there's just so much brony hate. lol.

I have no problem with people being bronies... What annoys me is how they've taken over deviantart. It's like posting anything to do with my little pony on here will boost your views tenfold, even if its not that great, and there's an abundance of work of a better quality.
Of course there are other fandoms with the same problem, but bronies are definitely the biggest on here.

Even though I contribute to it, I totally agree. I do have this account solely for fun, and I'm sure a good number of those submitting are the same, but there is an element of this so-called "draw ponies - get views" mantra on dA which irks me since there's so much more to this site than fan work.Β

Exactly why I rarely browse the front page of Deviantart, it's 90% bronies and furries and 10% decent content. There is amazing work being posted here that deserves much more credit than it gets, unfortunately most of it gets drowned out by posts that gain popularity just because they are part of a certain fandom.

I have no problem with guys watching girls shows. What I have a problem with is the 'bronies' who take it too far. The man and his daughter that got boo'd from the theatre by grown men because they didn't think they were 'true fans'. The guys who sexual harass the voice actors. The guys who assault the kids wearing the merch because "They dont deserve it". Not to mention the guys who draw pornography of every character so that when my little sister goes to search for her favorite character, she gets visibly upset at the search results even WITH safe search on.Β
Not "all bronies are bad" but most of them, from my experience, are.Β

Vocal minority, remember? The more extreme and annoying and downright creepy ones might to some seem to be the majority of the fanbase, but please remember the rule of the vocal minority. The assholes of ANY community are always a very, very vocal minority. In the case of bronies in particular, I'd say it's an extremely small minority at that, seeing as how the show itself is all about NOT being an asshole. It's just that the assholes and asshats are much more visible.Β

Nimaru In reply to LilacRats [2014-01-23 07:11:18 +0000 UTC]
Sure. Some fans (in any fandom, but certainly including bronies) surely take it "too far".
"Not "all bronies are bad" but most of them, from my experience, are. "
I'm sorry to hear that, but have you actually met many bronies? I've been a fan for four years and I've only met two. All the communities I hang out in have a few annoying ones, but the vast majority are pretty awesome.

I believe there is nothing wrong with being a brony and I support people finding something they like and being apart of it.
I think the main reason why the fandom as a whole is misunderstood is because of the pornography that does exist of the show. Yes, while there is porn of literally everything, many people dislike the fact that young girls (and boys) are finding this porn of characters that were initially marketed for them when they shouldn't be exposed to adult material like that. The entire fandom is not to blame for this, and I do agree that some people should realize that every fandom has their share of bad members.
I'm glad you are raising awareness for this and trying to help people understand that not the entire MLP fandom is a bad one.

My wife had that problem once when looking for looney toons. That was before Google's filters were as good as they are now.Β
So I understand your point, but I personally feel the core issue is a lot more about people who are homophobic and terrified of threats to their masculinity. Another large segment of the haters appears to be in the "people who like children's entertainment must want to rape children" camp... as if that made any sense at all.Β
Whatever the reason, people naturally hate what they don't understand and hopefully I and others can educate them over time. Maybe someday we'll all advance enough that this kind of knee-jerk reaction just doesn't happen.
