Wow! Thank you for the DD!!I went on my very first whale watch today!
I was very lucky and got to witness 3 active whales. I got to see several full body breaches, pec slaps and tail lobs. The whales spent the entire time at the surface for us and were basically just chilling.
Unfortunately I didn't get that 'perfect' tail fluke photo, but the trip was worth it for this amazing photo. I'm so happy with it. I will be printing and framing this photo

Oh that is a stunning shot indeed, and definitely something to be proud of! It's just such a powerful image, I love how the wind so strongly blows the spray to the side, for some reason it makes the whale seem more like a force of nature than he already is. Also, the australian humpbacks are gorgeous so there's that!

It was crazy windy and rough and freezing. The waves got pretty high, but apparently the whales loved it : P
I'm so glad I had a positive experience. Didn't see any dolphins though. Was hoping to see some commons. Never seen them before. But ah well. For the whales, it was just about as good as it gets I think!

You will love commons, they are a lot of fun but you have to be quick with the camera as they are very fast.
