Another daily sketch and an attempt to go back to working on less layer (mainly on one, except for effects).This turned out pretty different from what I had initially planned but I kind of like this watery girl and her cat.

her hair looks like a cape envoloping and protecting her pet (which I didnt recognise instantly as a cat, though

Thanks, I actually tried to push the hair to a warmer color but the whole point of this image was working with a predefined palate so I decided to keep it as it is.
The cat is pretty rough so I'm not surprised that you didn't recognize it at first xD
