Description Update: And I edited the water a bit, hopefully that looks a little better. >_<

I finally had a chance to work on something for myself for fun for a change. O_o I apologize for my hiatus, I've been getting kidnapped by an organization I'm involved with to do projects for. The past few weeks I've been designing them a poster for a charity event and art focusing on text and a very specific audience which I clearly don't deal with on a regular basis is rather exhausting.

But anyways I had a little time to kill before a meeting and decided to get some practice painting clouds in again, that turned into an hour of painting smoke which led to several more hours of turning the practice picture into something a little more presentable and my brain after listening to Avenged Sevenfold for hours and hours was stuck on Sith (or my brain might just always be stuck on Sith, it's hard to say anymore >_<). I figured it might be nice to show them after a battle kinda chilling a bit rather than attacking people given I'm already working on an ambush picture. All in all I probably spent 4 hours on it.

Star Wars clearly belongs to Lucas, blah, blah, you know the drill. Any constructive crits are welcome.

As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I take a look at this strife and raze everything left.

everything from "As" to "death" from Psalm 23:4 of the Bible.

I'm sorry but when you put in a ship element that's all I'm going to see and oggle over. Took me 4 minutes to even see the lightsaber as always nice work.

Hah, which part do you think I tend to focus on given I used to study Aerospace Engineering?

Fantastic piece dude. I'm particularly enamored of the monochromatic approach, gives a real sense of mood. Gotta disagree with Nemonus there, though; the reflection doesn't work for me at all. Strikes me as too bright and weirdly placed? If that's liquid at the figures feet, the reflection should be much lower? Off the picture plane, actually. Even the angle of the reflection strikes me as off... although I've got no insight as to why or how I think it would work better

Alright, I've tried tweaking things and I'd love to hear if that looks any better when you get the chance. And I forgot to say it earlier but thanks for the crit, it helps immensely.

I was going for a bit more of a wading through the water approach, I was hoping the ripples might better show that then again I never really work with water or reflections so I frankly had no idea what I was doing and still really don't. That's actually been faded color wise too but I don't think the fading has much of an effect when the color schemes so mute. I might have to play around with it more today if I find time.

Interesting! And so nicely painted. The sky is gorgeous, and that ship! Looks like a screenshot. I definitely got the "just chilling" vibe out of this; before I read your comment I was going to say that's it's nice to see Star Wars fan art that isn't of people jumping around and reaching for the sky, but of one that is comfortable on the earth. But you still have the sky there as a backdrop, which gives it a sense of scale. I really like the reflection too.

Good to hear that everything came across properly.

Of course knowing myself, I'll be right back to characters jumping off of buildings while trying to stab other people next week. >_< But laid back ones are a very nice change of pace.
