Just thought to put up a tutorial on the Water Dragon illustration I did a while back but never really made it public, hopefully it'll help a little bit for those that're interested. Comments welcome!Related content

I think tuts are good for several reasons. One, for the artist its a self reference. Also in order to explain something to someone else you have to know it really well for yourself. Now from the fan/struggling artist/"guy in awe of your ability though you may sit in awe of someone elses" side of things, tutorials give us inspiration, insight into how your particular work is created and ideas of how we can do things. I use them all the time as visual "liquid courage" for when I'm approaching something I've never done before and feel that timid ultra-noob feeling. It helps me quell my doubts and gives me a starting place when I feel completely lost on how to proceed.
So please continue to share!!

Definitely favoriting this. I don't quite have the time at the moment to look at it fully, but I'll definitely look at it soon.

Very cool tutorial! When you do the line work, do you actually draw it on paper and scan or do you use PS to sketch? Also, what kind of program do you use because I don't think I can do this on my Corel painter 3. The colors look watercolored.

I really enjoy seeing other artist's methods of coloring, and yours is one of the most easy to follow (not to mention gorgeously detailed).
Thank you for the tips/tutorial!

Nice tutorial.
I don't get the lineart part. Are you supposed to darken it by putting more layers over the original one?

I can appreciate your perspective on tutorials as you mentioned above with this one, but for me, I look to a tutorial from someone as less-superior in their position, and just more educational in regards to the artist taking the time to share the steps and process they might take to get their personal results.
In this case, though I can't draw or paint to save my life, I loved being able to go through the steps with you, and learn inside things (like, coloring from dark to light makes it look different than going from light to dark!)
So, this is a very longwinded way of saying -- thanks!

OK but the first image is a lineart, my question is, how can i make lineart from ordinary pencil sketch (without scanner) hmm?

....you probably don't want to know how long I've been on the lookout for a tutorial that deals with this general kind of colouring style. Wow. Please pardon me while I dance.
Awesome job and thanks! ^.-.^
(and no worries, you don't sound like you're feeling all that superior ^ ^)
