Description
Many times have people asked how I do my traditional colored pencil works. And now I have finally finished my second tutorial. This one tells not only using of normal colored pencils but also the watercolor pencils, because if I make a drawing with colored pencils I allways use also the watercolor pencils. I almost never use water with the watercolor pencils, I just love the stronger and more covering feeling of them. This tutorial tells actually only about skin coloring, but the tecnique is same when I color something else.
If you are interested about my traditional art tecniques, you should also see my watercolor tutorial.

We use the same techniques, but your layering advice for skin is wonderful. It's always so difficult!

i love how some traditional art looks even better than digital- i mean, with digital art you have the undo button and a bunch of settings and brushes! amazing

Thank you! That's true, people get used to undo and then traditional art seems much harder : D

hope to see more colored pencil techniques from you sir. I just learned that ordinary colored pencils and water color pencils have different impact on the piece (without the water). very informative. thank you for the tutorial!

The brands I'm using are good and I don't know about the other brands. Anyways usually very cheap is not good quality.

Thanks for replying. I tend to use Crayola and RoseArt but the colors come out bland when I scan them. I am out to buy some new ones just for me tomorrow (if I can keep the kids' hands off of them)

I always use photoshop to adjust the colors of traditional art because scanner always gets the colors wrong.

No problem! It's great to hear you like it. You can ask colored pencils for present or something? I hope you get a set of colored pencils to try my technique out.

I've got a smaller derwent set, and they are fantastic. I need more though. I don't have any that can be used for skin colour.
You must have a hell of a lot of pencils.
