Description
This is the Heavy Automatic Rifle variant of the Forty-Niner Rifle. It hasn't changed much since the last posting of the F-N HAR, but it has been lightened like its brothers and it too sports a new trigger guard. Chambered in .30-06, 20-round magazine.Related content

This looks more like a modified Garand or M14. Have you given any thought on Drum magazines in 30.06? this . While good is missing the basic dimensions needed ( overall length and height). any data on this?

No, it's based on the FN-49. Check it out: [link]
I have thought about drums, yes. This project led to the Lynx Carbine, and has since been superseded by it.

It's for a project of mine, set in a technological period similar to the '30s and '40s. And it reminds you of an FAL because it's based largely on the FN-49 a design by the same company who made the FAL just after WWII. Hence the name "Forty-Niner".

ah gotcha nice, my favorite FN Herstal weapon is the P-90, only fired one once but hell it has no recoil at all.

Yeah, isn't good for anything but squirrels, either.

No, they have to drop the person, or at least incapacitate him. Now, they don't have to do it with just one bullet, but they have to do it with a small enough quantity that they don't exhaust your magazine.

I don't like the 5.7 round in that platform. It seems to be too weak. If you shot the rounds at a higher rate of fire and had bigger magazine, I'd like it.
Of course, the round lacks range, as well.
Really only good for squirrel hunting. If you're going to shoot someone, do it until they're dead. The fewer rounds you need in the target to do that, the sooner they're dead.
Now, I have no doubt that the PS90 is a great plinker. But it's not something I'd use for combat.
Myself, I like the M1 Carbine for plinking.

For CQB I'd use a 12-gauge shotgun. Or a submachine gun, preferably in 10mm Auto or .40 S&W.
But nothing beats the stopping power of a shotgun.

OKay fine I think the P-90 would work nicely but 12 gauge is a beast .

The problem with the P90 is that you'd need to use a good fourth of the mag just to put someone down.
You can do that with One shot from a 12 Gauge, or two from an AR-15.

eh it just depends where you hit them, this guy killed 12 people with a .22 long, and only shot them once each so its really up to the shooter, the 5.7mm doesn't do too bad.

Sure, but you have to get headshots, which I don't rely on. I can make them, sure, but I don't rely on them.
