So yeah, I noticed that my last deviation was in like July. D: I've been trying to respond to messages and notes but other than that....But this is the reason! This pic. Well, other things too but mostly this. It a still from my big project this semester in computer animation. It's not done yet (animation, lighting and texturing still needs work) but it's good enough to show a wip image.
I had to do everything for this project. Here's my progress in order (starting in September, but most of these things overlap):
1. Character design: 4 days
2. Modeling (sculpting the characters and environment): 2 weeks
3. Story Ideas: 1 week
4. Blend shapes (making his different facial expressions): 2 weeks
5. Rigging (building his skeleton so he can move): 3 weeks I think
6. Texturing: no real time period, I've been working on it since modeling was done
7. Animation: 4 weeks (still working on it)
8. Lighting: 3 weeks
Again, most of these overlap so I was probably doing 2 or three of these at the same time. x_x WELCOME TO RINGLING COLLEGE.
Oh yeah, the character. I'm not really sure what he is. Some sort of lizard dragon thing. xD But his name's Marco and he's a treasure hunter/thief. All the dragons make fun of him because he doesn't have wings, but he probably isn't even a real dragon anyway so he thinks they're idiots.
If you guys have any lighting or color change suggestions, I'll be more than happy to listen!

I love how you emphasized the scales on the nose and arms, and his tail is so bendy and cutee~ I really like the faint jungle in the background too, but the bright green floor kinda throws it off I think... but you said your'e still working on the textures so I won't comment on them too much xD; Can't wait to see it finished! :3

Maybe a change in the feet color like to the color of his back. I don't know, it might just be me, but I feel the color scheme is off or something. He look's so sad, I wanna hug 'em.

I get to look forward to this kind of stuff in two years when I go to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh!
Right now, I'm just learning how to use Photoshop and Illustrator

looks great! I really like the style of the character and the bushes. I can't really tell whats on the floor (though it might be explained in your animation) but the textures for it look good. The only thing that stands out to me is the chest, it seems quite rigid compared to the rest of the scene. I think adding more of the metal casing will help break up the wood texture and add that style to it. Maybe make the upper part taper down to the lower part so its not as box like, add some interesting looking lock, and add some seams in-between the wooden boards so it looks more like worn planks than new flooring. Again I really like the character, can't wait to see him move!

Thanks for the crit! Yeah, the floor is supposed to be grass. xD I'm working on it. And good point about the chest. I don't know how much of the model I can change at this point, since the character interacts pretty intensely with it, but I'll definitely see what I can do. I can for sure add some seams in the wood.

This is great! Add some weathering to that chest and maybe a low mist in the background, and it'll be perfect.

Yep, the chest is definitely gonna have weathering to it instead of looking all perfect like it does now. And the background does have a sort of mist in there now, but I guess it isn't enough?

Well, it's not particularly noticeable to me. Maybe adding a few beams of sunlight to show there's mist there would help; it'd also add a great atmospheric touch.
