Description
READ THIS I AM IMPORTANT! EDIT 12/18/10: Alright, I've still been getting a LOT of notes asking for a Toothless plushie. I don't care how much money you offer me (even though I'd love to accept it). I. Don't. Have. The. Time. I have college and work and commissions and life that I have to do, but especially college. I don't have extra hours and hours to devote to making plushie after plushie. So please stop noting me about it. I hate to sound mean, but that's what it's come to.I've been getting quite a few requests from people asking if I'm commissioning these. I'd love to make everyone their own Toothless, but I just don't have the time, and I doubt anyone has the money to pay for it. Adding up materials and the time it takes to make just one, I'd have to charge $150 or more per plush.
BUT! I do have a tutorial and pattern up in my gallery that tells you how to make your own! Here's the link to the first part: [link]
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This was supposed to be my big summer project. I finished it less than a week after I got out of school. xD
BUT YEAH SO. IT'S TOOTHLESS. TOOOOOOTHLEEEEEESSSS!
I fell in love with the movie How to Train Your Dragon like you have no idea. But the official Toothless plushies are so GODAWFUL UGLY it hurts to think about it. So I made my own! And I LOVE how it turned out! And! it's my first plushie that I've made with my own pattern.
He's made with fleece, is about 3 ft long with a 3.5 ft wingspan. His feet are weighted with poly pellets and his claws are made with some fuzzy-ish leathery material I found around the house. His eyes are made with Sculpey, painted and then sprayed with clear acrylic enamel. His fake tail fin is attached with snaps, so it can come off if I want.
EDIT: Oh, and I used 's Sculpey eye tutorial. Should have put that in here before.
Here are the people that made a plushie using my pattern!
If you don't mind me asking, do you think it would be possible to scale down this pattern relatively easily? I want to make a Christmas gift for my little brother, but since I already bought his sister's gift (about a 12in Hello Kitty plush) I'd rather not cause any fights over who got the "better" gift ^^"
I have a question. I've completed Toothless (wings and all) except for the eyes. I am making mine out of polymer clay, since it is recommended and I have a skill with it, and my mom, being an artist is painting them.
So my question is, how did everybody attach the eyes???? I did not use the plastic stuffed animal eyes because in my first test run they broke off very easily. Did anyone make holes in the back and sew them on? Lemme know what ya did!
Please someone help Β No matter what I try and use, I just cannot make the claws for this!Β The material is either too stiff (cant sew it then turn it inside out) or so flimsy the stitches tear apart when turned inside out.Β Can anyone please offer advice as to what material can be used?
Can anyone tell me, how hard was it to make one? I am dying to have one (because let's face it, the dreamworks one are horrible) but I am an amateur when it comes to sewing. I can hand sew and use a machine I just want to know what I am getting myself into.
And was it hand sewn or machine or both? Thanks! I PMed the creator and a few others and am getting no replies.
I think it's pretty easy. I've made two, going on three. I'm not that amazing at sewing, but mine are turning out really good. I do mine all by hand, but if your making a big one, I would do the wings with a machine.
Thanks so much! I don't plan on making a huge one but I don't want it to be too small either so it'll be somewhere in the middle. I guess mine will all come down to if I can get our old sewing machine to boot up or not lol.
This plushie looks amazing and the tutorial looks really good but I'm having real trouble sewing the head pieces together accurately. When i line up the lower and upper head pieces to sew together, they dont seem to match in the middle or at either end of the template. They seem to match better when i flip 'LOWER HEAD A' the other way around. Can you help explain? What am I missing or doing wrong here?
Fantastic plush and an epic tutorial. Trying it myself soon!
The eye in the bottom right corner. Is that aΒ SculpeyΒ eye or a screenshot? If its the actual eye, how did you get that colour bleeding effect like that?
