OH GOD LAST PART.

I apologize for the deteriorating quality of this tutorial. I meant to make each part look super pretty and nice, but... that obviously didn't happen. Hopefully it's still somewhat clear, though.

And if you make a plush using this tutorial, send me a link to it! I'll post it up here.

I'm not quite sure how you mean when you're saying to stitch on the wings. Β Wouldn't it be better to have them bound up inside the body like the fins until you flip it right-side-out?

what kind of stitch would you say is best to sew the wings on because i have noticed with some of my plushies that i made some of the stitching wasn't very good and i had to restitch it againΒ

Would it still work if you made the wing and wing-thing one piece?
Also, how would you turn it inside out?

hello ! i'm trying to sew myself a toothless too - so far so good, but now i'm at the wings and i just can't figure out how you attached the wing arm and the wing thing to the actual wing...i don't get how i should to that so that it doesn't look so..not nice... i mean did you just take the parts, lay it on the wings and sew over it? where should the wing thing be? should it be over the top of the wing or actually lay on the wing itself .. i'm confused (this is the first time i ever seriously try to sew a plushie u_u)

Hello, i'm making one of toothless plush, and i have a question. I wanna make the eye with fleece. I drew the pattern, but i'm not sure if i should just glue the eyes on the plush, or make a stuffed version of the eyes, then glue or sew... I would appreciate all the help Β and ideas you can give me And thanks for the tutorial!

Hi I am so glad I found this in time for the 2nd HTTYD movie! But I just had a question about the pattern. When you print this pattern out do you print one body part for one piece of paper or do you have to blow the picture up. I would like to make mine about 175 cm long form tip of nose to tip of tail and the same for the wingspan.
If you could answer this I would be very grateful and post lots of pictures of how my dragon goes!
thanks a lot!

I too am having trouble understanding how big and how to print the patterns. If you have any insight or tips for how I should be sizing them please let me know!

I was planning on making mine to follow the pattern with the ones that aren't scaled to 73% so could I just use GIMP and scale it to 100% and have it work out?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

WolfyGally In reply to ClayfrommyHeart [2014-07-13 01:10:45 +0000 UTC]

HiΒ
I know it is confusing as I had trouble with this too but it is very simple once it is explained properly ( I'm not sure if mine will make sense though ) just get each picture up ( from each link ) on Adobe Photoshop and press print! If a message comes up on the screen saying that the pictures might not fit on the A4 piece of paper just ignore and press continue IT WILL FIT! If you follow these instructions the plush end up being about 110 cm long and the same for the wingspan everything is already in proportion already for you so it is easy!
I hope this helps you as it is quite a fun project to do with family or friends!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ClayfrommyHeart In reply to WolfyGally [2014-07-13 01:22:51 +0000 UTC]

It is already correctly sized? I read on the 2nd part of the tutorial to resize most of the patterns because the sizes were off.
And when I printed everything out (note that I just right clicked on the picture and hit print..) and a few pieces were very out of proportion so maybe it was how I printed it?

So since I don't have Photoshop, can I simply use GIMP?

Thanks so much for responding! I have almost all my supplies, need to get some faux leather for his talons but other than that I am ready and anxious to get started!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

WolfyGally In reply to ClayfrommyHeart [2014-07-13 02:24:37 +0000 UTC]

Well if you do not have adobe photoshop I guess GIMP can work I have just never heard of it.... But all I ever use is Adobe!Β
Try GIMP and see how it works out but just double check everything before you print it out because the amount of paper that gets used is incredible!Β
Use GIMP and let me know hope yours turns out great! Mine is turning out very confusing for example my mother and I put the foot on back to front!
Let me know how you go!

ClayfrommyHeart In reply to WolfyGally [2014-07-13 03:27:12 +0000 UTC]

Lol GIMP is a free image editing software, much like photoshop but it's free.

Lol You got to me a little too late with the paper thing! Lol I must've used 30-45 pieces of paper (of which most I threw away thinking I couldn't use them because they were off or too small.

Now I think I get how to do it and I will for sure check everything BEFORE I print it! Lol I'll let you know how it goes! I've sewn before but not a project like this so I am anxious to see how it turns out!

Again, Thanks So much for your help! And so fast too!

thought i should put these here. the black one follows the pattern, the tiny two also do but the pattern is shrank (and doesnt have claws- that would be impossible! (they are about 6 inches long)) the big white one is customized a little in the pattern and color to better match my dragon in the HTTYD game :3 (shes still a littleΒ incomplete- need blue spray paint...) and both large ones feature wired wings so they are posable, the white one's fin is also wired.

also, the eyes on both big ones are handmade by me with polymer clay (Snow's eyes are huge *shot*) and her eyes also have a little glow in the dark clay, thats the white rings. 'cuz i can. XD

so, thanks for the awesome pattern, im having some good fun with it~

Considering how much money you could be making just for this tutorial, you are generous beyond the imaginings of most folks these days. Thank you so very kindly for taking the time to put all of this together so that those of us who suck at pattern making have the proverbial snowball's chance at making our own Toothless! I appreciate this more than you'll ever know, because Toothless reminds me so very much of my cat I had to have put down last Summer when he lost his battle with stomach cancer. My Toothless will be a cream and orange flame point with funny crossed blue eyes, but that's okay; I don't think Rocky the Rocket Cat or Toothless will mind.

*sending lots of positive vibes and many thanks your way*

I am so confused! :S
When you sew on the wing thing and wing arm, is it right sides facing each other?
Also, when I attempted to sew on both sides to make 2 wings and then sewed right over, I ended up with 6 different compartments.

BetaRaptor In reply to lilcrack1990 [2012-12-05 14:30:36 +0000 UTC]

I did it slightly differently than the tutorial. I only cut out one of each wing, rather than sew two sides together. I also used a crease instead of the wing "arm" and "thing." I basically drew out the shape of the wing, cut it out, and used the creases for the vein/fingers and where the "arm" would be. It makes the wings floppier, and I chose to make the wings and fins smaller to make him more cuddle-able! (it was also easier!)

As for attaching to the body, I used the same stitch shown in the tutorial. Just sew it on, however it works for you! Go in through the body, out through the body and wing.

I hope this helps! I'm no pro at plushie making, so I really don't know all of the actual terms and methods ;
