Hi!
I find your notes very helpful! I didn't know about charocal pencils before, must check.
But I have one question - I use black Pilot G-tech pens since... probably 5 years (and love them) and sadly none of them was waterproof. Are there two versions of them (not-waterproof and waterproof)? I live in Poland, maybe waterproof Pilot G-tech pens are not avaible in my country...

The G Tech (gel) type should be waterproof, just have to check its a Gel-hybrid

nice stuff, this is quite a handy refresher sheet. I'm surprised how much of the same stuff I have as you too haha. Those prisma color pencils though, I always hear peoples online talking about them but I've never seen them in england for a reasonable price. Know of anywhere that ships them with low shipping charges ?

Search online for a price check? Or just buy one to test drive it ,cause it might not work for you, personal choice.

Thank you for sharing this, I've never used a lead holder. Do you use the lead holder for much of your work?

Most of the resent works are done with 0.5
mm mechanical pencil. I use 2mm ones sometimes

overhand is my grip of choice , especially when I do the underline structures lines so the parts ( eyes, ears , etc) lines up , and tripod grip for the tightest details . if you attend life drawing classes , everyone will be using overhand, tripod grip is overused and inhibit flowing lines IMO. cause those graceful lines comes easily from your shoulder and elbow not the wrist . and often from the back muscles too.

I do have one question as a result of reading your tutorial. Every day you post sketches in graphite like Buffalo Soldier and other portraits. Do you prefer the overhand grip or the extended tripod for these kinds of sketches?

i have to add that my hand can scale the drawing automatically, if you find yourself using only the wrist , maybe the scale is too small for exploring the lines from the shoulders . a good place to see it in action is to go to Youtube > search FZD ( feng zhu designs )design Episode 36 Traditional mediums. Feng Zhu is one of the best teacher out there , all the episodes on youtube are highly recommended . you can also get them from his Blog > Feng zhu design Blog .
