Description
Having made it to Tacoma, Fenris encountered Garrett Hawke, part owner of Tethras Salvage. Hawke was a generous man, and helped Fenris route a number of Danarius’ agents who had ruthlessly followed him westward. Out of gratitude for the help getting established in the lovely Evergreen State, Fenris assists Hawke with the burgeoning business. Truth be told, Fenris thought their search for sunken treasure was pure fantasy, but as it turns out, much has been lost at the bottom of the sea—some of it quite valuable indeed.

Fenris is quite fond (“quite fond”) of Hawke, but there is one sticking point between them: Hawke’s license for concealed carry, and his insistence on exercising the privileges it grants. Hawke contests that it’s part of his heritage; before moving to Tacoma, his family was from a ranch in eastern Montana, and there guns are simply a fact of life. Thanks to instruction from his father, he’s convinced he knows how to use one without being a danger to others, and swears he only uses firearms for self-defense. Fenris is hardly convinced—after all, it’s far too easy for such power to become a fatal temptation.

“Guns don’t kill people: People kill people,” Hawke has said.

“Then they shouldn’t have the guns to do it,” Fenris has rebutted.

Despite their difference of opinion on the matter, Hawke swears he’d never buy a semi-automatic—something of which Danarius had dozens.

Sketch of modern-AU Fenris and Hawke. Haven't had much time for art so I'm afraid it's really quick and has a lot of problems.

(PLEASE don't argue about gun control. I was just trying to find an analogue to being a mage for a modern AU pic, I know it's not perfect. I'm not trying to make a "statement"! I just thought it worked for ~art!~ )
