Tip: it's all very well to stick with common etiquette when meeting a member of another species for the first time. However, you may want to give some consideration to any physiological differences that would affect a given display of friendliness. Just sayin'.

This is not the bigger project I'm working on that was in that scrap on the pen tool, obviously. But I had the sketch for this sitting around for quite a while, and I wanted something I could post so's to keep things a little more regular around here. Besides, this gave me some great opportunities for trying out brush/pen combinations for texturing, instead of the noise + filter approach I have been using.

And this may or may not be the harpy from this picture. Maybe the memory of her lost hands is why she looks disgruntled instead of bemused?
