Description
These are just some old Scorpions of mine. Well, not the middle guy - he's Dark Eldar, but I tend to use him as my Exarch. The pastel green worked really well on him, which goes to show that even normally hideous colours can come together well en mass.
I've also used a metallic red fabric paint on his swords.
A note about the Scorpions: They don't look bad, and their shading is kind of interesting. I went through a phase years ago where I thought washing the entirety of my figures in flesh wash gave them a nice "sunset" look. I think these guys were the only ones I didn't regret the decision.
(Once again, techniques have a time and a place)

Like the 'varnished' effect, is that from the flesh wash or did you actually varnish them?
I prefer your exarch to the standard, moght consider that myself... He looks a little more vicious.

Thanks I've since varnished them, but the photo is pre-varnish. It's an old flesh-wash, that's not available anymore. The new washes tend to dry matte. I talk about varnish on my blog here: [link] but basically get a paint on varnish to give the armour the look you're after. I'd suggest a satin for armour rather than gloss.
