Description
Already tenth pose practice. I've wanted to draw that sports pose practice for long so it was time to tackle with that. initially I thought drawing baseball themed one, but I figured I don't know enough yet. I should use a lot of references for that. I gotta do more studies about the matter. For now I settled with more basic type of sports. My original characters Sayaka and Sachiko will be doing some jogging this time around. Sachiko helps Sayaka to exercise a little every now and then.
1. Jogging at local park. Sachiko has already gotten rid of that baby flab.
2. Sayaka has troubles keeping up with her pace. (this was super hard viewing angle)
3. Sachiko shows no signs of exhaustion. Sayaka on the other hand...
4. Get some speed in that butt! Sachiko "encourages" Sayaka to keep going.
5. Eventually it's time for a break. Sachiko goes to fetch something to drink while Sayaka slumps down on a bench.
6. Sayaka really needs to exercise more if she wishes to get slimmer.
7. Sayaka sits on the bench and takes the drink. (Sitting poses are really hard for me, because I'm not used to draw the back arcing like that)
8. She wasn't especially happy about that butt slap.
9. Well isn't it the gentleman! Did he just happen to be around or did Sachiko plan this encounter...?
There could have been more poses with the gentleman. I planned that Sachiko would have left the two alone and they would have had a little chat together. Then they would have jogged together while Sachiko observes them.
I really liked how the first six pose sets came along, both as individual poses as a whole. I could use the space very well. Next three poses waste a bit more space, but that's fine. Pose 7 was giving me a lot of trouble. My original sketch had so many mistakes that I had to redraw it from scratch. I'm glad that I did, because now it's looking much better. I rushed pose 9, but it turned out pretty good regardless. Gentleman's left arm doesn't look very convincing but I let it be for now.

Sayaka is honestly such a gorgeous character ha ha
both characters are. i have seen too many characters and original o.c's with the same typical "sexy" anime body (big breasts, small waist hips sometimes) but its so awesome seeing someone finally using a more realistic, more attractive character in my eyes. Ive been wanting for more characters with her bubbly sexy thickness alot more since ive started drawing, ever since i started viewing your work, ive been wanting to make my main female o.c of the level of body fat as sayaka and even more with the cute poses that Sachiko has when she was a bit chubbier from the baby fat and now of course, continuing the trend with her sister. its so cute ! so thank you for giving me a new insight on how i want to draw and improve on myself in terms of anatomy c:

in comparison to the rest of the body, his legs look a bit too thick, I think
(but that may aswell just be your style, so...)

I used to draw too thin or long legs, so in these pose practices I've tried to make them shorter and thicker. This is what I managed to draw on this attempt, so it's not really about "my style". They are a bit too thick.

Sayaka has just the best expressions haha. Wonderful job showing the realism of running as a work out, especially for people that are just getting started. I think I would be exactly as Sayaka feels. Sachiko pulled a smooth move there with Mr. Gentleman! Also, it might be because her career is in health and she's has an awareness of exercising, but I thought it was hilarious that Sachiko barely had any sweat on her and her hair wasn't a mess like Sayaka's. Great contrast there. I love these sisters so much. They are gorgeous in both their body types and poses.

Nsio, how did you first learn anatomy? Are there any special methods you use when you draw people?

Nsio In reply to T-L-G-T-W [2015-08-18 18:58:50 +0000 UTC]
It's good to note that I almost completely ignored anatomy at first. I studied only the skeleton to understand rigid limitations of human body. That was the key for understanding joint articulation and proportions. When I draw muscles and other details, I just rely on my visual memory. It's not very reliable, but the more I look at references, the better I will remember anatomical details as well. Then I'm just trying to implement them one by one.
It might be that I have a bit different take on anatomy though... Anyway, anatomy isn't that important unless you aim for realism. Symmetry and proportions are far more important and often times get the job done just fine.
I don't find my methods special per se... but I guess it's just my understanding and way of perceiving the world that makes my methods special. I have my "rules" that I follow and there are tons of them. Even if they aren't perfect or guarantee success all the time, they work well enough.

pose #9: the thickness of the guy's leg at the back of the knee looks weird......(to me I guess!) it's either the thigh or the back of the knee, can you please tell me where can I find a real life leg figure pics that look Like This, because I couldn't.
...and thanks for the art

Yea,I kinda get what you're saying on teaching/reminding yourself on your angles on art since I think you are damn good at what you do.But social media outlets would still be a great idea for others and even yourself still imho due to the fact that you get exposure from different peoples constructive opinions.
Yeah it would be even more time consuming giving the fact that you havent made a video/take alot of time to preform your craft but as they said,Rome wasnt built in one day.And you cant really know for sure if you dont like something until you try it (within reason of course).I'd say give 1 video a shot, and if its something you dont like afterwards, you can always delete it/burn it,and be done with it man. =o

Took me a bit long to respond on this because I was a bit lost with the context of this comment. Are you talking about video tutorials/drawing process?
I have done one video about my drawing process if aren't counting my livestreams. www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_X4Z3… . It was rather stressing job to do, because I still need to see a lot of effort with my drawings. Also, I advocate short and definite videos, so I wouldn't want to make them too videos or speed them up too much.

Looking at scene 9: Sachiko is the strongest wing(wo)man xD
Also, Handsome Guy's expression almost never changes xD it's quite refreshing lol
My favorites were definitely 1 and 8. They had the most interesting perspectives, although Scenes 2 and 5 were very informative views as well. With scene eight, I was stuck on how the head and face looked because it felt a little displaced from the body, but since I don't have much experience with bird's eye view, it is tough to say for certain.
Scene 1's Sayaka face is interesting because it feels a bit ecchi I wonder if that was intentional? haha

Sachiko is indeed strongest. Too bad this joke is lacking because I didn't make it obvious how Sachiko knows Mr. Cool guy in my earlier pose practice.
Hey, he is the coolest guy around, that's why
I was happy how the first scene turned out. Although I drew the background hastily, it works pretty well there, emphasizing the perspective. What comes to pose 8, I can't say if it's wonky or not. It was difficult angle, but I like how the eyes turned out at least. I also like how she is holding the bottle. The bottle is in interesting angle the arms are in quite natural position. I'm most concerned about the legs though, as they don't seem to look as good as the rest of the pose.
Interesting remark. I don't find it ecchi at all. I guess it has to do with her mouth and tongue? It would look ecchi to me if her tongue was hanging outside, pretty much like in pose 7.

Ah, the quest for fitness continues.
Hmm, looks like the blonde beau has returned with quite the muscular build. I wonder if he practices karate or plays basketball.

I think he meant that he felt bad for Sayaka since she doesn't seem to want to be that way, yet is pretty clearly struggling with undoing what happened to her at Christmas. He never said she was ugly or the like, so no hard feelings, right?

I don't really think the bottle is getting smacked out of her hand. It looks to me like she was shocked and dropped the bottle...maybe she likes that guy?

If you look closer, you should see that in #8 she indeed has the water bottle. She is opening the cork with her left hand and holding the bottle with her right hand. It's just that the angle is rather uncommon that the bottle is pointing almost directly towards the beholder

Nail I know you do live streams and such but have you ever considered doing video tutorials like sycra? ( on YouTube) you could gain some more fans that way too.

Nsio In reply to JoeyAktosh [2015-07-23 19:39:06 +0000 UTC]
Well there are few problems when it comes video tutorials. First, I haven't done such videos before so that would require a lot effort to make good quality tutorial videos. Second, I'm just interested in drawing, not video making, so that's extra burden for me.
There is also a problem with the purpose I create art and tutorials. First and foremost, I'm drawing for myself, not for gaining fans. I have drawn for that as well, only to find that my drawings won't end up as good and tutorials become less interesting. Making tutorials is a way for me to practice and explain my understanding to myself, but so that other people can benefit from them as well.
That said, that video part is unnecessary for me, although it could definitely be (more) useful for others.
