'Nightengale' is the code name for the latest Krȃng artifact to be uncovered in the Republic's long-running investigation into the technology and methods of these long-ago conquerors. Unlike previous artifacts that were discovered 'in situ', 'Nightengale' was discovered in an entirely unexpected place; Buried in the deeply tangled skeins of the Krȃng genome.

Based on the details uncovered thus far it appears to be a large warship oriented towards the attack role. Primary armament consists of four large fixed forward laser cannon on the outside wings, six smaller defensive turrets at mid-ships and under the wings, and a single 'spinal' type projectile launcher under the nose. This weapon system is an oddity among the artifacts thus-far detailed and its exact capabilities are not entirely understood. Two large generators on either side feed directly into the launcher and the presumption is that it is a high-c-fraction kinetic accelerator.

Built on the standard PTU-557 hull, it has hanger space for a good number of the smaller 'Helios' craft. Crew disposition and totals are entirely unknown, but the craft is expected to give significant insights into the nature of Krȃng faster-than-light, shielding, and power generation capabilities. Reproducing one of these ships for study is a top priority but extreme caution is warranted; Like all Krȃng technology encountered, it is expected to conceal a maze of traps and treacheries.
