Description For NationStates; Modeled in DoGa with cheap knock-offs.

----

Since I apparently saved something else over the original, I decided to do some upgrades when I was 'recovering' the model. By popular request the box launchers were doubled-up and a forward glacius added for additional platform protection. The main gun was upgraded as well with a longer barrel for more accuracy and acceleration. Laser interceptors were added as well as an antenna array. Grenade launchers were added to the flanks and these are assumed to carry the usual multi-spectrum smoke grenades.

----

Determined to use the wrong naming convention for the wrong reasons, the OSA would choose 'Lancer' as the official designation for its deliberate tank-tank platform. Keeping with the Qi-and-now-Hauyht 'Warrior Ethos', it is a fast one-man design that relies heavily on personal skill rather than the more (capable, accurate, intelligent, keep picking adjectives) computerized systems as fielded by the Defense Force. It would also mark the OSA's first entry into the wild and woolly world of intergalactic arms sales with the 'Lancer' being purchased in significant numbers by the distant New Prophecy of Yeria (NPoY) - homeland of many of the Qi design team - and subsequently shopped around to anyone who expressed even mild interest.

The 'Lancer's' primary armament is a high-volume middle-weight linear accelerator with a dedicated five-round burst capacity and the same 3° off-bore engagement cone as the previous 'Paladin'-Type. This is then augmented in similar fashion by four four-pack box launchers mounted on wings that are themselves mounted to the rear of the turret. A single high-cycle IR laser is mounted behind the main gun and this can be tasked with either automatic engagement of incoming missiles or enemy infantry. A dual-sensor pod is mounted high on the turret for extended visibility and the access hatch is below and behind this.

Sacrificing some measure of protection for speed, the 'Lancer' is fast and with its fusion power plant can easily outpace any of its tracked or wheeled kin, though it still can't keep up with the much larger Defense Force 'Typhoon'. OSA doctrine calls for the use of high-speed envelopment operations wherever possible and the 'Lancer's' speed makes it ideal for this execution. Since it doesn't have the various joints of the walking 'Paladin' and is nearly (but not quite) a solid-state platform, it has quickly become a favorite of maintenance crews who've found they have little to do outside of catastrophic damage.
