Description For NationStates; Modeled and rendered and messed with in DoGa.

Before the 'Malakh'-Type GravRotor took the attention of the markets - and the OSA - there was the 'Pegasus. And now there is the 'Pegasus MkIV, an update to the platform that brings it up to GravRotor standards and aesthetics. By functionality, it is the big older brother to the smaller and more agile 'Malakh, a sturdy and rugged aerial transport that can move a lot of 'this' from 'here' to 'there' reliably and without a lot of fuss.

Designed primarily as a transport with opportunities to act as a support gunship, it features a large, single-box cargo section. Doors mounted left, right, and between the split-tail aft allow easy and flexible access. A standard collection of folding seats and benches can carry up to twenty four standard-sized infantry in full kit, or whatever other mix one can stuff in there. Take off the wheels and one can put a 'Type-W Technical inside, and unloaded the 'Pegasus can definitely sling-carry a 'Street Assault Vehicle or other vehicles with similar mass. After-market options exist for fitting out the cargo section as a surgical ward, medical evac, command & control, and other similar suites.

Factory armament consists of two fixed forward medium lasers and then two 10-cell short range missile launchers in the space between the cockpit and cargo area. These latter are mounted for loitering air support, though being missiles they can go wherever their guidance suggests. As with previous iterations of the 'Pegasus, a support railgun is mounted under the lift units. This has been upgraded to a heavy (infantry) high-cycle accelerator that is on an inverted mount. This can be operated either remotely from inside the cargo area or it can telescope down for door-gun style use. Additional laser emitters mounted to the left and right of the rear cargo tongue are tasked to anti-missile duties, but again - screwdrivers are useful.

While it is slower than the 'Malakh, it is an excellent companion aircraft. OSA infantry philosophy uses the two in tandem with the smaller putting spearhead units on the ground while the larger brings in the troops needed to exploit new opportunities. As part of a combined-arms force they will often operate as 'infantry overwatch', staying airborne to land infantry in support of armored units - tanks and 'Mechs - where appropriate.
