Following in the... illustrious heritage of 'Mechs like the Locust and Raven, the Uhlan is a very light, very fast, modestly armed BattleMech that is designed specifically for forward reconnaissance and patrol duties. It is also cheap - most of the structure is made from various lightweight composites - and this has made it a favorite of brigade commanders who are looking to rapidly fill out their light attack lances.

Two high-cycle linear accelerators are mounted high on each shoulder. These are fed via external ammunition drums as opposed to more complicated internal linkages. The shoulder launchers are supposedly for spotter drones and sensor pylons but again - eager commanders will load them with short-ranged missiles in order to slot them into light assault lances. Sensor panels on the nose and crown give it a wide and detailed field of vision; the pilot's compartment is between the two and takes up a good third of the torso.

Finally, a large cluster of grenade tubes is mounted on the rear torso. These are usually loaded with multi-spectrum smoke where they are intended to give the 'Mech an even shot at escape versus larger and more heavily armed opponents. Once contact has been made the Uhlan will turn tail and run, popping smoke as quick as the 'Warrior' can push the button.
