Description
Continuing with the series of Warcraft buildings made in SketchUp, as it is a really good method of practising our modelling skills.Anyway this is a model sheet of a standard Blood Elf domed building from the MMO game, World of Warcraft.

Amazing work Obahan. Can you share the 3d model you made? I play warhammer and I was looking for a 3d model of a building to make papercraft scenery for my gaming table, and this would be great for my high elves.Β

Thanks man!
And do you mean share the base SketchUp Model that I used to make these screenshots?
I'm not sure about that dude I'll have to think about it, but do you mean share it online, like through the 3D warehouse? or through email?

Sorry if I was rude, I was just saying if you can send it to me in email to use Papakura to make it a papercraft model, (www.tamasoft.co.jp/pepakura-enβ¦ ). I play warhammer (great game by the way - check it here www.games-workshop.com/en-AU/Wβ¦ ) and this is the elf army (www.games-workshop.com/en-AU/Wβ¦ ) Im building a board for my elf army and I was looking a way to make buildings like the ones the blood elfs from WoW have. You Building and tower would be perfect for that, I have a blog (myadventuresinageofsigmar.blogβ¦ ) where you could see my progress with that and I will use the model for just make the papercraft template. I understand that is your work and if you feel that is not appropriated is ok.Β

No that's okay man, it's not a rude request.
I'll have to think about it but I'm not too sure if I'm keen on it atm, the model itself isn't as good as it might look in the image exports, it'd require quite a bit of repair work/editing to be useful as an actual 3D object (for one thing unfortunately it's not symetrical, the ring of outer pillars are not connected to the centre of the building so it's slightly mis-sized for it).
But I did check out the papercraft site you linked in your comment and they do have a pretty impressive gallery of 3D models, so it could be interesting.
Like I said I'll have to think about it.

so you did this yourself? From scrathc? Holy crap, man o-o. though I always wondered how cool it would be to create a sin'Dorei place completely customized to my own character's personae's. That to me would be really cool. A home, rooms, and everything all mapped out and shown. But for me, that would take probably forever considering I only use pencil and paper xD this looks amazing though!

Cheers lass, I'm glad you like.
The model took some time to make but not nearly as long as you'd think, if you want to make models its very easy, Google SketchUp is a free and incredibly easy program to use, plus it is properly fun to muck about and design your own buildings and spaces

I do like it Is it possible to use those backgrounds against drawings that you do? I'm sorry but I'm still figuring digital stuff out ^^'

Thats what I'm still trying to figure out, I know its possible, the comic book artist Omar Francia uses 3D models to place background objects in comic panels, like he does here in his Star Wars comics:
3D Models: [link]
Comic Lineart: [link]
And I know some artists use SketchUp itself, Like Dylan Teague does: [link]
But I'm still trying to figure it out properly myself :S
Still that's what practice is for I guess.
