interestingly, when i start sketching, i like to draw the head and put on face details first before sketching out the body. perhaps to humanize the little collection of lines?

I can see that, but I've noticed when I tend to do that, my head ends up too big or too small, and I have problems when there are a lot of details telling what I have to do to fix those proportions. I will tell you, I almost ALWAYS work on the face first.
