Description
Athena, Goddess of wisdom and war.

She was born already adult and armed from the head of Zeus after he swallowed her mother, Metis. She was Zeus' favourite daughter.
He entrusted her with the shield which was adorned with the head of the gorgon Medusa.
Athena was one of the most important Goddess in the Greek Mythology.
She was a virgin Goddess. Because of that was called Parthenos ("the virgin").

She competed against Poseidon, God of the sea, for the control of Athens that hasn't got a name yet.
It was agreed that both of them would give a present to the inhabitants and then they would choose one.
Poseidon hit the ground with his trident and made a fountain sprout. This would give the inhabitants a way to trade and water, but it was salt and bad to drink.
Athena offered the first domesticate olive. The inhabitants chose the olive, which gave them wood, oil and food. With it they also won the protection of Athena.

Her equivalent in the Roman mythology is Minerva.

Nació ya adulta y armada de la frente de Zeus después de que éste se tragase a su madre Metis. Fue su hija favorita.
Él le confió su escudo adornado con la horrorosa cabeza de la gorgona Medusa.
Atenea fue una de las Diosas más importantes en la mitología griega.
Diosa virgen, recibía el nombre de Parthenos ("la virgen").

Atenea compitió con Poseidón por ser la deidad protectora de Atenas, que aún no tenía nombre. Se acordó que cada uno daría a sus habitantes un regalo y que éstos elegirían cuál preferían.
Poseidón golpeó el suelo con su tridente e hizo brotar una fuente, lo que les daba un medio de comerciar y agua, pero ésta era salada y mala para beber.
Atenea ofreció el primer olivo domesticado. Los ciudadanos aceptaron el olivo y con él el patronazgo de Atenea, pues les proporcionaba madera, aceite y alimento.

Su equivalente en la mitología romana es Minerva.
