Description
Hestia, Goddess of household and the sacred fire.

She was the daughter of Cronus and Rhea, and the oldest sister of Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hera and Demeter.
She was really calm and was the only one who never got involved in a fight.
It is said that Hestia gave up her seat in favour of newcomer Dionysus to tend to the sacred fire on Mt. Olympus. Because of this, Hestia doesn't figure in many myths and she didn't roam or have any adventures.
Nevertheless, she was one of the Twelve Olympians who received the first offering at every sacrifice in the household.

Poseidon and Apollo aspired to court Hestia, but she kept virgin as her sisters Artemis and Athena.
She was represented with a tunic and a veil.

Her equivalent in the Roman mythology is Vesta.

Hestia, Diosa del hogar y del fuego sagrado.

Era hija de Cronos y Rea, y la hermana mayor de Zeus, Poseidón, Hades, Hera y Deméter.
Era de un carácter muy tranquilo y fue la única gran Diosa griega que nunca intervino en peleas o disputas. De hecho, se dice que cedió su puesto de Diosa olímpica a su sobrino Dioniso, para evitar conflictos en el Olimpo y prefirió retirarse a vigilar el fuego sagrado de los Dioses.
Por ello, pocas veces aparece en los relatos mitológicos a pesar de ser una de las principales Diosas de la religión griega. Muestra de esta importancia es el hecho de que Hestia era a la primera que se le hacían las ofrendas en los banquetes, antes incluso que a Zeus. Se le solían sacrificar terneras de menos de un año, aludiendo a su virginidad.

Era virgen, al igual que Artemisa y Atenea, aunque no le faltaron pretendientes. Poseidón y Apolo la amaron, pero Hestia rechazó a ambos.
Se la representaba llevando túnica y velo.

Su equivalente en la mitología romana es Vesta.
