Description Rare, your bridge is a-quiverin' a bit. Here, lemme adjust your position a little...

Didn't I tell'ye it'd be more fun to learn how to play the way Earth Ponies do?

Don't get me wrong, unicorn magic's fine n' all, but when you gotta in *so close* to the felt that y'kin smell the chalk, and ye get to *feel the impact* when ever'thing starts to *smacking* together... Hoo! You just start ta really feelin' the *rhythm* of the game. It just feels so...*real* that way, ye know what ah mean?

...Uh, Rarity? Are you listenin'?

****

It's taken me months to admit it, but I ship these two *so hard*.

Stathmore toned tan paper, assorted compressed charcoal, vine charcoal, and charcoal pencils, all set to multiply over a few layers of color on Paint Tool SAI.

Ohhhh charcoal, on of my favorite mediums.

Β I think it turned out quite nice...love the border work. I can only imagine the cleaning of your scanner heh. Top shelf again Obsequiosty, top shelf indeed.

I'll usually hit it with a coat of workable fixative before I do a scan.Β I haven't had much trouble with it...yet.Β Although a little extra charcoal dust on an already messy charcoal drawing doesn't stand out too much anyway...

What company would be the best to get charcoal pencils from nowadys... among other related tools... it's been years since I messed with the medium heh? Last time I remember drawing with it I used Darwent Charcoal sets.

I use General for the compressed sticks/pencils, and Winsor & Newton for vine charcoal.

The latter mostly because my local art store made a "too many zeros on the order form" screw up years ago, so I continue to whittle down their supply at $9 a box.

Thanks. I started out wanted to digital paint, but it became evident pretty quickly that I wasn't ready to tackle color theory because I wasn't even in control of the values (lights and darks) yet.

Then I found out that if you have a decent set of values, like a decently shaded set of pencils or charcoals, you can either screen it with color to glaze or set it as a multiply layer over flats. It's kinda like painting with training wheels.

It gives it a very messy textured look (especially in areas that saw a lot of erasing and redrawing), but sometimes that isn't a bad thing.

Poor Rarity she wants to use magic.

When Applejack isn't looking, Rarity will magically nudge a ball just out from behind the Eight ball, or stop the cue from scratching. AJ often suspects something is up, but since they're just playing to see who has to pick up tonight's tab, she just chuckles, shakes her head, and lets Rarity take her next shot.

(I spend a lot of time building head canon around how the ponies behave in bars.)
