Same scale as the others in the Sheltered series.
What struck me here was the reality of the hands within hands.
Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.

Thanks! I actually need to approach this one again, since it was shattered when a sudden storm hit my tent during an outside art show. Interesting story is that the hands shattered when they hit the ground... but in the process they protected the figure of the mother and child in the center.

Charles, this is so wonderful. It's definitely something I would love to have in my home. A mother's love for her child is something I feel so strongly, even though I don't have children of my own yet. It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful, sincere feelings in the world... I love your interpretation of it so much.

I love the whole piece, the mother nurturing child while while both protected by giant hands she doesn't seem aware of, there's so much subtext here, but the workmanship itself is amazing, I love how I can see the details of the thumbnail at the same time I can see each individual toe on the mother's foot, so much thought and work went into this piece, well done.

Yeah, this one did evolve into a rather complex piece, even as it is simple.
The photo was interesting. I intentionally limit the depth of field, which leaves the thumb a little out of focus, but that creates a feeling of depth to the image, and tends to make the figure in the center stand out, even as she is in the middle of the hands.

I really adore your Sheltered serie. All of them have this really warm feeling to it. I really like the idea, I think pearwood said most beautiful way: shelter within a shelter. Love it.
