Description Bigass picture for probably a bigass full-view.

I drew Impa but I still wanted to draw other characters (Well, except for Zelda, I didn't want to draw her, that might be why she kind of sucks) so, I did this, because why not. I also wanted to give Ganondorf his nose back but now all I can think of is "The Monarch will rule Hyrule!!"

they all look great, specially ganondorf, with the look he used to have in ocarina of time... you didn't redesign midna that much right?

Thankses. I originally just drew Midna because that's all I wanted to draw, but then I felt obligated to throw in other characters, so I was like eeehhhhhh. Maybe that's why I went all wacky with the other ones.

I don't have much of a problem with them...but why the heck is the sword Ganondorf took from the Sages red/orange and shaped more like a katana or saber than the longsword it was?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ObstinateMelon In reply to Drakohahn [2014-10-24 22:28:17 +0000 UTC]

Because the point of a redesign is to draw something not like it was?

Because apparently curved blades are good for stabbing style executions?

I heard desert people have curved swords.

Curved. Swords.

Drakohahn In reply to ObstinateMelon [2014-10-24 23:05:27 +0000 UTC]

The Gerudo do use curved swords, but that's not a Gerudo sword. That's the sword the Sages used to try and execute Ganondorf. He kept it because he wanted to use it against the enemies that tried to kill him with it...for the irony, I suppose.

But Link also has the Master Sword from Ocarina of Time... and Midna doesn't have a hand coming out of her head... and Zelda is trying out for FFX-2 or whatever the hell she's doing...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Drakohahn In reply to ObstinateMelon [2014-10-24 23:41:54 +0000 UTC]

There's an apparent difference between those Master Swords? And Midna only has her hair hand out when she needed to use it. I can only shrug about the Zelda one.

ObstinateMelon In reply to Drakohahn [2014-10-24 23:54:49 +0000 UTC]

Well, yeah, it's kind of purpley and the design is different; I literally drew the Ocarina one here. There's also the Light Medallion thing on Link's arm and Golden Gauntlets thing on his elbow. Nothing about this has any real bearing on a game I would think.

Ew, what the hell is wrong with Zelda's outfit? Just why would she bear her midriff in combat like that? Not to mention those slippers. Does she want to get murdered ten different ways to sundown?

ObstinateMelon In reply to GizmoBeam [2014-10-24 05:20:39 +0000 UTC]

Probably the same way that Midna prepares for combat, literally naked in both forms, lol. Also keeping in mind that Zelda doesn't even combat. Unless... shooting an arrow three times is impressive.

No Melon! Link is right-handed! Clearly you didn't do your research! The GameCube version is the canonical version! Flip him over and fix him up! I refuse to accept your redesigns. They're garbage. I mock them. I spit on them. Ptooey!

Actually, they look pretty sweet. Ganny is my favorite though. As for my real thoughts on Twilight Princess though, I always feel like the odd one out. I never really cared for it as a Zelda game. I think it's a good game, but not up to Zelda. Felt to me that they had a mish-mash of awesome ideas and then ideas that weren't so great. Like for me, the highlights of the game were easily Arbiter's Ground, The Yeti Mansion, and Hyrule Castle in terms of designs and how they work. Heck, I'll easily say that Arbiter's Ground has my favorite boss fight in the series next to Goht in Majora's Mask. In fact, I purposely keep a save file, just so I can fight him whenever I want.

Where the game fell short to me was everywhere else. The other dungeon designs, especially the Temple of Light, The Cloud City dungeon place, and The Twilight Realm were a miss for me. It seemed like it had great concepts, but the execution and designs weren't great for me.

That said though, I think this game comes as a mixed bag for me, and maybe it was because I had such huge expectations for it at the time too, but when I go to a 3-D game, it's easier to go back to Wind Waker or Majora's Mask than it is to go back to this one.

And not that my mini-rant thing is done, I have one question I must ask. Best character in the game. The creepy baby faced thing, Malo? Where is he Melon? I will not consider this complete until his creepy baby eyes are staring into my soul demanding me to waste my time doing his tasks so that he may monopolize Hyrule for capital gain and sell his overpriced armors that will surely force the economy to spiral into bankruptcy while he sits idly by in his oodles of crystalized money they call rupees.

ObstinateMelon In reply to dullahan1 [2014-10-24 03:42:42 +0000 UTC]

Wut, why would he be right-handed in that? Wasn't the Gamecube version the one that did get it right? I thought the Wii was the only one that fucked it up. Because, you know, holding the Wiimote left-handed would have totally broken the game. Even though it doesn't matter what hand you hold it in at all since it's random flailing you don't have to aim. Skyward Sword was the only game that actually had sword controls. That still pisses me off that everything in Twilight Princess was in the wrong spot for me. Lake Hylia and Gerudo Valley weren't where they should be with my Ocarina knowledge... and all the Hylian text clearly looks backwards. It hurts my dyslexia.

You act as though a game that went through development hell was unbalanced! This is the best game ever made. This is the Duke Nukem Forever of Zelda. I would not compare something so lightly to a masterpiece like Duke Nukem Forever!!

And yeah, Malo Mart was such a rip-off, Chudley's Fine Goods and Fancy Trinkets Emporium  was way more reasonable.

I may have worded it poorly, but yeah, the GC one did get it right. I've never played the Wii version myself. I honestly never knew TP went through development hell either, but I guess it explains, at least to me, why some dungeons and what not went through seem to have been done by different teams. Now all I have in my mind now is some kind of Duke Nukem x Zelda crossover after reading your comment. Link comes zooming into Hyrule Castle Town on a motorcycle he lovingly names Epona while sporting some shades and a cigar looking to get some princess booty. It'd be the best plot ever.

I dunno, I thought Barne's Bomb Shop in Wind Waker was pretty reasonable myself. That is, until the pirates attacked.

I named my character Wolfdick and the horse Seabiscuit. Sadly "Seabiscuit" was too many characters so I spelled it in a pretty 1337 way. I'm so ashamed.

As mentioned in one of the other comments about Okami, the wolf thing is friiiiiggen ridiculous, and the weird pixel-y Twilight world does not jive with anything else; be it in aesthetic, art design, or lore. And yes we do know the Twilight realm was one of the things that was going through changes. It just seems by the final product they were adding things that looked cool to them at the time and lost what their original vision was, and the original vision was obviously Ocarina. But the game is absolutely fine, I just finished playing it and that's why I drew it. I hated it when it was released but it's there's nothing really wrong with it. I hated Windwaker when it was released too, but look how well that game has aged (Hint: well).

I admit, with Wind Waker, the artwork threw me off initially because it was a major difference from Ocarina/Majora, but I still got it day one on the GC and fell in love with it instantly. I love Ganondorf in that game too. Beating up kids, heck, nearly stabbing them to death. As cartoony as he looked, he's ruthless in that game. Also, holy cow. The HD version is just SO beautiful. I could stare at it for hours. Heck, the GC one still looks fantastic. Wind Waker still has my favorite Zelda combat system too. Love the parrying.

For Twilight Princess, I think easily the biggest disappointment for me was Zant. The whole game built him up to be this really awesome, ruthless and cutthroat villain. Then you get to the Twilight Realm, discover Ganny is behind everything, and Zant's character just becomes a major let down. Something I felt they somewhat fixed with Ghirahim in Skyward Sword. I think the fact that the game wanted to be like Ocarina kinda made it meh to me too. Back when Nintendo was trying to shoehorn that game into EVERYTHING, and while Ocarina is great, it felt like they were too unwilling to try and cut ties with that game, and thus Twilight Princess got a bad schtick from that.

There are some things I feel Twilight Princess did wrong, but there are some things it did great too. It balances out to me as being an okay game because of it, but the fact that it's consistent one way or the other is what I feel initially turned me off. I think a lot of the music is fine, the game has some great pieces. Hyrule Field, Lake Hylia, Midna's Dark Hour. Heck, I like the character designs that Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf got. They look great. My biggest problem lied with the story and, like I said earlier, some dungeon designs. I felt like the story was trying to force itself as a darker reimagining of Ocarina to an extent and because of that, just made it feel silly and out of place. Granted, Majora had those out of place moments too, but it worked better, though that may be my nostalgia. Honestly, I think I would have liked it better if Ganondorf would have been out of the picture and it would have just been Zant, then maybe Zant could have had a better character. That's just me though.

It's actually not that different from what was in the game. The only thing I added was the Zant-shaped head and little Zant eyes that probably aren't noticeable anyway, and also, believe it or not, made her more clothed, which I'm having trouble believing myself.

If I were to hazard a guess as to what you're thinking about that's so different I would assume it's the face. Her face in the game looks like it was a goddesses', or like a really mature queen's (She looks a lot like that dead queen of the Zoras now that I think about it), and the funniest thing about having that regal face was she still spoke in the sassy-little-imp voice even after the transformation, lol, it didn't match at all. Plus, she looks very cat-like and sly when she's an imp, and by no coincidence I'm sure, acts that way throughout the entire game. That's the character trait we know her by so you can't just make her look wise and benevolent at the end abruptly. Or, you can, because that's what they did.

I'll only share because you're cool tool!
