Description
WALLAH, All of my I pageant stuff is done with in one big ol swoop of the board!I wanted to try something new with Tikah here a bit, display another side of her. You see, Tikah endured a rather traumatic experience as a child, and has carried those wounds with her as she has grown. This event of her past became the fuel to her racism, and no matter how many Irkens she helps kill it does nothing to really heal the wounds in her memories. In a way you could say Tikah is stunted, she can't move forward, trapped in her anger of that time.
The outfit was mainly inspired by the Dios de los Muertos holiday in Mexico, or Day of the dead, as we know it in English. The holiday primarily focuses around gathering family and friends to pray for and remember loved ones who have died. To honor them in their memory.
In fact there is a family member of Tikah's in this image, the skull she is holding, it is her fathers..
While yes, mainly the outfit was inspired by this holiday, there is quite a bit of symbolism also put into here. The one I'd like to explain being the mechanical spider like arms. They represent her anger, pain, and fear embodied into cold metal flesh. The broken pieces of her pushed and warped into hate, which both comforts her, and holds her from moving forward with her life.
This piece has to be my favorite so far out of the Pageant series I have been doing. Halloween is one of my absolute favorite holidays, and this time of year I find absolutely beautiful. Plus it isn't freezing yet, but I get to enjoy a steaming hot cup of tea without causing myself to slip into a heatstroke in the afternoon.
Ah the perfect time of year.

The lighting and detail in this really is gorgeous. You have a way of setting ambience that truly tells what's going on without words. Great work.

*Sigh* wow Miss Tea, you've really taken my breath away with this piece.
The flower crown on her head is just gorgeous and the tears running down her face to her father's skull is beautifully tragic.
The mechanical arms are a really interesting and clever twist to portraying her "inner demons" in a way. No healing, no progress, no joy.
I really like how you covered her eyes as well, to me it comes off as "Blinded by hate"
And this really made me happy since it is part of my culture too -^^-
And I love her veil !!
Wonderful Lovely Job Miss Tea!! -^^-

Oh geez, okay you know, I've had such a hard time replying to this comment just because I was so friggen flattered by it.
I cannot express how much I just love the fact you took the time to review all the pieces I put into the picture, there really is no higher compliment then that for me.
Blinded by hate is most definitely one of the themes I was going for with that one, though the overall being blinded itself can be interpreted several ways. Kinda left out for preference between each person I suppose.
Oh really?
I love the Hispanic culture over all, and I actually have stayed in Mexico for 5 weeks to study the language. A really irreplaceable thing for me, and I would absolutely love to go back someday.
The Dios de los muertos traditions fascinate me, especially because of how different it is from the overly commercialized capitalist way that American's celebrate our holidays.
Thank you so much~!

You are most welcome Ms. Tea -^^-
even just a simple thank you is enough for me so you don't stress yourself out trying to replay to my rambling lol ^^'
Yeah I could see how the blinded thing could be interpreted in different ways.
Mm-hm, I'm Latin ^^ my parents are from Mexico and immigrated to Florida with family then to Michigan.
I was born here in the states with my siblings and I gotta admit we don't always celebrate Dia De Los Muertos EVERY year due to life distractions but we always have a little shrine by the dinner table all year round for our Loved ones who've passed on.
The best part in my opinion is when we cook delicious food like tamales and chicken with mole (moe-leh).
And telling stories of our past loved ones, they're always funny.
But like I said before, we don't really celebrate it every year since my parents moved to the states but we kinda celebrate it every day of the year -^^- And also Dia De Los Muertos is technically a 2 day celebration, November 2nd is the day for Children who have passed on and the 3rd is the day for older people who've passed on.
This is gonna sound silly but we had a pitbull named Chato while I was growing up and he died at 13 yrs old a couple years ago, and I actually started dreaming about a year or so later and they're ALWAYS the "It Felt So Real" kind so I make sure to always remember him on this holiday as well, cause whenever he's in my dreams it always makes me happy and I wake up teary eyed ^^' lol he was a good dog.

Thank you!!
Oh it really is, some of the Hispanic art work that has been made for that holiday in particular is just breath taking. It is always so inspired and the designs they make for the skeletons are absolutely Phenomenal.
Most certainly girlie has a goal in mind and she intends to get it one way or a nother
certainly keeps her motivated

*Rolls* Yeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss all my yessssssssssssssssssss
The amount of thought, and symbolism and creativity put into this image, coupled with the incredible colouring and shading, the pretty liiiiines, the eeriness (accentuated by the tilt of the canvas) I just.....
God I can not express how much I adore this picture. It has to be one of my favourites.
I positively adore the design of her outfit too, and the Dios De Los Meurtos face painting.

Oh dear :I sensei broke again *pokes with stick*
Well I'm certainly, completely, and absolutely thrilled you like it so much! I had a fantastic time making it overall especially incorporating all the little hidden meanings in the symbolism.
But of course! I love the culture, and Dios de los Muertos seemed like the perfect way of showing that in some art for once~! Plus it fit what I was trying to show in this picture~

Yes~~~ That was what I was basing the original concepts off of when I was working on this.
I absolutely loved the way Catrina looked in the images I've seen, couldn't resist tossing some of it in there for the October picture.
thank you so much!!
