Description
..... PICK UP THE PACE BOY THEY'RE GAINING ON YA!!!So I’m guessing you’re all probably wondering, what the heck did little ol’ Almaca do to piss off those giant beasties?
Look closer. Closer. There you go! He has some of the mini beasties in his bag. And why would he do that? Well, now is when we dig into a little lore of Ephomeris: Almaca’s home planet.
The giant beasts are actually called Waterbears, and are a native species to the planet that play a vital role in the ecosystem. They primarily live inside the jungle territory of the Narrisirri, and every year after breeding will migrate to Savaukian settlements to give birth in the underground caverns. These caverns contain a unique food source of algae that without it can detrimental to the development of Waterbear pups. They remain there and eat the algae several months before the Sauvakian’s then personally escort the pups back to the Ephiri within Narrisirri.
During the migration the Waterbear males, driven by an uncontrolled desire to protect the pregnant females, will often trap a isolated herd of females from leaving the Narrisirri, leading them to give birth in the jungle. This is when the ‘Runners’ come in, or in this case the little boy above with a heart bigger than his brain.
The migration of the Waterbears has become a celebrated festival among the Sauvakian’s, and as the last of the lumbering creatures enter their city the festival concludes with a final ‘sport’ of the sort. A volunteer group forms to travel to the jungle, locate the isolated herds, and slip in to gather the pups to take back to the caverns. It’s task much easier said than done.
Essentially, imagine the Running of the Bulls, only it’s a group of one-ton angry blubbers bent on suffocating you under their enormous crushing body weight. That's if you don’t die from the initial trampling…
AND THAT about sums this up!
Not so simple as babysitting the cuties in the bag now is it.
Guess you could say this is the prequel to this cute piece.
At least you know he made it out okay, more or less~!
