Yeah, the fact of the matter is that I probably do not know a single person who hasn't infringed upon someone's copyright, whether they know it or not. And that makes everyone a criminal. This only shows how broken the laws are, and powerful forces are working to make them even more broken. Until an extensive, liberal reform is brought forth, we can only hope that the laws are not enforced on a massive scale.

I can't believe this whole business of SOPA charging thousands for dollars from a single mom who just downloaded 24 songs in MegaUpload. That's embarrassing and awful. That's WAY more expensive than it would be to buy a CD of any soundtracks, they are obviously doing this for making money out of a big part of the world population.

This is what I want to say to them right now: [link]

The penalties for copyright infringement are already ridiculous without SOPA. It's just that people usually get away with it because literally everyone commits the crime and it's not possible to enforce without creating a 1984-like police state.

SOPA sought to further increase the penalties though.

Oh, wait, my mistake, it wasn't SOPA.

It was actually FBI, due to the founder of MU making many millions of dollars with the MU subscriptions.

Personally, I rely on my university servers for online storage so I didn't have any files there that I know of. However, this does leave the internet with a vast amount of dead links, many people have lost their online content, backups and storage facilities without warning, and people who paid for a subscription are left with nothing. Also, the legal reasoning behind this under the current laws is quite shabby; It relies on insisting that the site owners "conspired" to cause the upload and spreading of copyrighted material(a webhost can normally not be held directly responsible for user content, until a SOPA-like bill passes that is).

There are many, many sites that offer the same service, but this sort of takedown could very well become commonplace.

its sure been a sad year for me though im not sure that what i consider sad would have an impact on most people

first capcom cancel two megaman games (universe and legends 3) and seemingly abandoned the franchise though im not sure it had much impact at large

and now this
