Description

Let us now turn to another example of Imperial splendor and glory: The Ak'bar-Class Space Station.

As with the Taz'wid-Class, the republican counterpart to the Ak'bar-Class of the Empire, I have also completely redesigned this space station and, above all, enlarged it massively.

The Ak'bar-Class is actually a pyramidal frustum with a size of 14608.9×14608.9×2191.8 meters.

This pyramidal frustum can be extended to a complete pyramid, then results in a height of 3208 meters.

The top of the pyramid is then formed by a docked city ship of the Mit'ras-Class. On the upper surface of the pyramidal frustum is a docking point, where a city ship can be docked.

Thus, these ships can be easily maintained and in addition the self-armament of the space station is reinforced by the weapons of the city ship.

Likewise, the resistance of the shields increases because the whole is more than the sum of its parts.

As with the original concept, these space stations continue to serve as orbital defense stations and as the headquarters of individual Imperial flotillas. To better serve these purposes, these space stations now have 4656 “Sphinx-type” Staff Cannon and 1056 Uraeus-Cannon.

As these space stations have now become much larger, the hangar has naturally also become larger. Thus, instead of the original 1621 squadrons of death gliders and a few Wa'si-Class battle cruisers, the Ak'bar-Class space stations can now house a maximum of 15 Mah'arib-Class fleet carriers or 50 Imperial Ha'taks in their hangar area.

This hangar now occupies the entire bottom third of the space station.

In the picture above, you can see two Mah'arib-Class fleet carrier flying into the hangar, while a Mit'ras-class city ship is just flying away from the docking point at the top.

In addition to their previous tasks, I have assigned these space stations yet another task. They now also control the orbital defense systems of the "Sakonjaf" type. These are defense satellites that, with a diameter of 267 meters and a length of 190 meters, are larger than the battle cruisers of the newly designed Wa'si-Class.

Basically, the satellites are an over sized Uraeus Cannon whose beam emitter alone is eight times larger than the conventional Uraeus Cannon aboard the Imperial warships.

Basically, these satellites are oversize Uraeus Cannon, whose beam emitter alone is eight times as large as the conventional beam emitter of the Uraeus Cannons aboard the Imperial warships. In addition, there is a correspondingly powerful Naquadah energy core, some energy storage, a high-performance sensor phalanx and for the defense against smaller enemy ships 16 Staff Cannon of the type "Sphinx".

The Uraeus Cannon of a "Sakonjaf" satellite fires a concentrated particle beam whose penetrating power is sufficient to smash the shields of a Ha'tak, or similar ship, with a maximum of two direct hits.

Whereby usually the second hit would already cause great damage to the enemy ship.

Eight of these defense satellites can be seen grouped around the space station.

A complete defense network around an Imperial World usually consists of an Ak'bar-Class Space Station, with a flotilla of at least 30 Ha'tak plus the supporting warships, and a total of 160 "Sakonjaf".

However, Naturn as the imperial throne world is protected by 4 Ak'bar class space stations, with a total fleet of 250 warships, including 10 Mah'arib-Class carriers and 100 Ha'tak, plus 400 "Sakonjaf" satellites.
