Description

Last Friday, GateGirl86  posted a picture of her revised version of the BC-304, the BC304E 'Daedalus Evolution'.

Spurred on by this exemplary work, I have decided to also revise my Daedalus class, the descendant of the BC-304, 400 years after the events of the TV series. On the whole, I have only changed superficial details.

And because I like Gategirl's last picture of the 304E so much, I cheekily copied it.

So this week's "rendered image" shows the BC-304 Mk XVII Daedalus class this time. The previous Daedalus Class design remains "canonical" as the Mk XVI version.

The changes I've made in the current revision include the hangarpods, which I've now created as through deck hangars, modelled on Gategirl's 304E.This increases the complement from one squadron of F-302s to two squadrons, plus eight additional vehicles. In total, 40 fighters/UCVs/shuttles can be parked in the two hangars. And this time I did not calculate this number, but parked models of the vehicles in the hangar and counted them.

In the course of changing the hangar pods, the engine arrangement had to be changed as well, so I also reworked the engine models. Finally, I have corrected the biggest mistake of the TV series BC304, namely no weapons on the underside. In addition, I created a couple of new launchers that I also added to the top.

Apart from that, I only changed a few small details on my Daedalus-Class, like additional armour plates.

The armament of my Daedalus Class now consists of:
2x Union Arms S-85 “Tomb” Standard Asgard Beam Emitter
6x Union Arms E3I21LRE “Roaring Thunder” Asgard Pulse Ion Cannon, cal. 180 mm
4x Es'audil Solutions GAS-2603 SJ Very Heavy Staff Cannon cal. 1400 mm (Three-gun turret)
8x Es'audil Solutions GAS-2602 T Heavy Staff Cannon cal. 900 mm
10x Es'audil Solutions GAS-2601 D Light Staff Cannon cal. 300 mm
12x Halevi Corp. SAPWCP-3H „Paragon“ Self-Propelled Heavy Rail Gun cal. 250 mm
12x Halevi Corp. SAPWCP-1L „Fury“ Self-Propelled Light Rail Gun cal. 30 mm
8x Halevi Corp. CIRG-1414 „Bush Fire“ CIWS
10x BMT REMS-241 (Equipped per launcher with 6x Halevi Corp. IM-C-FW space-to-space missile or BMT RE-Ancient Drone Mk III)
8x BMT REMS-112 (Equipped per launcher with 6x Halevi Corp. IM-B-FW air-to-surface missiles or BMT RE-Ancient drone Mk II )
11x BMT REMS-52 launcher (Equipped per launcher with 50x Halevi Corp. IM-A-FW surface-to-surface missiles or BMT RE-Ancient drone Mk I)
20x VLS (Equipped per cell with: a single Halevi Corp. IM-D-FW interplanetary missiles or with slide-in starter container with 9x BMT Ancient Drone Mk III)

I should add that this is the 4th revision of my Daedalus design. The domes and blue lines on the underside were part of the 3rd revision. And are therefore already part of the Mk XVI Daedalus-Class. You can still find the Mk XVI overview in my gallery. The domes are intended to be bunker domes that protect particularly neuralgic areas of the ship. The bow domes protect the computers, the aft domes protect the energy sources. The two domes in the middle protect the primary systems, the domes under the hangar pods protect the secondary systems. The blue lines are supposed to represent high-power energy and data lines. I know it doesn't make sense that these are visible from the outside or are located outside. But as the saying goes: When in doubt, follow the COOL rule.

Oh, because of the fire glowof the engines. Before I was able to use God's rays to render the fire glow, thanks to Raylectron , I developed my own method of creating such a fire glow in my old rendering programs. As models. Thanks to Raylectron I could do without this method. But when I looked at old pictures with my method, I began to miss it and wondered if I could also achieve the effect I had achieved with the other programmes with Raylectron. Not only could I reproduce it, no, I could even improve the effect. SIGNIFICANTLY. I am quite thrilled. I think I will go back to my old, cherished, method instead of using God's rays.
