Description
This is a sketch I did a while back of General JEB Stuart of the Confederacy during the American Civil War. Both my brother and I like him, and yes, we love Gods & Generals!!Drawn in pencil, I used a photo from an issue of a Civil War magazine as my reference. Notice he's holding his "impeccable hat"! :-D
I did this of my own accord, but as a sort of naughty experiment to see if I could draw better than some artist advertising in said magazine.
I also drew one of Gen. Stonewall Jackson [link]

I see from your record that you are a West Point graduate, served in the cavalry operations against Apache and Comanche.

If we fight as well as the Apache, I pity the Yankee invader!

I think you've captured his likeness so very well here!
I like the details that you put into this, especially his eyes!
I think the eyes are a window to the soul.
You can tell a lot about someone by just looking into there eyes, you know?
Anyways ... a very awesome drawing of General Stuart!

Thank you very much! And yes, I firmly agree that eyes are an incredible window into a person. I also find staring/studying/drawing a person's face to be a similar experience, which is probably why I'm picky about who I actually spend hours staring at.

Very nice. As far as history goes, the American Civil War is a fascinating era. I love the Ken Burns documentary which I haven't seen in many years (though I have the soundtrack for it )
