Description Add a few drops of milk to a large glass container filled with water, take picture, rotate image 180 degrees, pump up the saturation and whala. Surreal!

My original photo was very noisy (grainy), but Erik Collinder was kind enough to clean up the original and send it back to me. Thanks Erik!

Very interesting, I never would have thought of using milk and water for art. The only thing I don't like about this picture is that some parts are very clear while others are blurry. I think that takes away from the picture a bit.

firstly... I Love it!! It's beautiful, so inspirational and and somehow serene and wow!

secondly - why not try it with food colouring in the milk to make a version two? or even a set of pics?

just an Idea, i'd be really interested to see how it turned out....

Well, to be honest, I didn't see such photography neither on dA nor anywhere before!
It is interesting~
I love the way it looks like smoke or something 3-dimensional...! It doesn't look like "flat milk".

Just the noisy background is a little disturbing... but I am not sure if it is because of the camera (low quality) or because of the lightning in the room (too dark)... :/

Yeah, the bit of noise is about the only thing I can find wrong here. And I'm an amateur when it comes to fiddling with ISO, so I don't have an yreal advice I can offer.

That said, I love the idea and the execution. It's so commonplace you'd never thing to stop and look at it.

This is really nice, I wish it was less grainy but I doubt that acquiring a sharp image of a moving liquid is easy.
I've been wanting to take a picture like this for a while!

Okay. I really like this and will try it myself, great work. Now for some criticism, it looks quite grainy on closer inspection and a little out of focus. This can be prevented by a lower iso (i think) or you can fix it in photoshop

I think this photo is awesome, and not too noisy as some may think, I think that the trend toward minimalism is soon to dissipate, I mean this tenancy to endlessly reducing form to only the essentials kinda gets boring after four or five decades, but this is only my opinion. I'm glad to see photos that capture my instinctual ideals of beauty and not just my cerebral concepts of the same.

I know..I know, this is all crap, but I try with what little Grey matter I have and that is why I like "pretty pictures" lol

Epic-Elite [2008-10-10 22:40:14 +0000 UTC]

xlnt idea turning this upside down.

i think that is what makes the photo.

only suggestion is to use a higher res. camera, but you know, the cheapest SLR on the market runs about $600usd (excluding lens)

maybe look for a used model from last year.

10 true megapixels. not like the subcompacts that are 10 interpolated mpx.

the new industry standard as of this year is 12.5 but the 10.1 still shoots great pics.

an overall good photo when viewed from the distance however when viewed from my seat (full size) the pixels show and thus makes the photo not look as good as it could've been

Really great,
if you're looking for criticism, the only thing i can think to suggest is to maybe add color, i don't know how it would work out, but you could add dye to either the milk or the water... you would loose the black-and-white aspect, but it might add anther degree to the surreal making it less recognizable as milk.

This is really beautiful and caught my eye straight away! You've probably already heard from others, but in my opinion it looks like a sea dragon of some sort. Love the glow effect.

potato-u-princess [2008-07-26 17:15:47 +0000 UTC]

This is amazing! It looks as though it is alive!

I think it might be interesting to see what you could do with diffrent types of liquid, maybe soda instead of water? The bubbles might give it an interesting effect...Also, what would happen if you took the shot from a diffrent angle? It might make it look more dramatic, and might make it look even cooler! [Although I know it might be hard with the way water interacts with light, so maybe some photoshop rotation?].

Anyway, I LOVE IT! I think I'll have to try this type of thing sometime!

the camera noise etc actually works well with the surreal image thing... i like the way you have not tried to clean it up too much...

Good job...
