I wonder though if it explains *all* the sudden and often inexplicable cast changes though. There seemed to be a boatload of them in that show.

True enough... the major one of course Sheridon taking command of Babylon 5 from Sinclair.
I remember many fans being up in arms about that, but it all worked out for the best given Sinclair went back in time with Babylon 4, himself transformed into Valen of the Minbari.
