Description Hey! Finally I'm done with version 0.2 of The Interface. First of all, I'd like to apologize for being MIA for a while. I've had
a lot of other stuff to do, but that's a long story, so let's skip right to the good stuff!

The Interface has gone through yet another complete rewrite. This basically means that the code is; more organized, more optimized, easier to edit and generally just better written. In addition, of course, there are some new features!

** File browsing within The Interface:
By using the FileList plugin by Elestel you can now browse through folders. This new feature makes it easy to setup bookmarks and application links. The Lower Green Bar has also been changed to incorporate this new function to act as a complete file browser (with some limitations of course).

** Automated Positioning System:
The Interface will now adjust it's own position based on what screen resolution you have.
The currently supported resolutions are:

- 1900x1200
- 1920x1080
- 1680x1050
- 1440x900
- 1280x800

Wallpapers for these resolutions are of course included.

** New Win Amp controls:
The Lower Blue Bar now has all standard Win Amp functions.
This includes; basic buttons, song title and a duration bar.

** And a lot of small things!

Enjoy!

Best Regards,
~Omardude

Okokokokokokok, for all those attempting the v.02 of this a few tips
1) If you have Interphase v.01 than DELETE IT before trying out v.02 cause the v.01 interferes with v.02!
2) Check for the latest release of fileviewer.dll here! the one included doesnt work for vista (personal experience)[link]
3) A cool hint, if you are link me and have a TON of links to apps but like to keep it clean look up StandAloneStacks:[link] This is an awesome program that makes a stack from one simple icon, you can link that icon to one of the links in Interphase! If ya'll want a guide on how to use this program just reply to this. Thanks!

Cool, but where exactly is the plugin supposed to go?

I put it in the C:\Program Files\Rainmeter\Plugins folder but I still get an error when I start Rainmeter that says something about the plugin not being found.

The error's path says: C:\Program Files\Rainmeter\Plugins\..\Plugins.

Hmm, that's weird. Plugins aren't really my forte, you should ask the maker of the plugin on the rainmeter.net forums.

wow dude, this is completely amazing, thanks for messaging me when 0.2 was up. I am so completely noob to raimeter so i have one question, otherwise, i cant find any complaints, my one question. when it says in the ini file "Insert Main HDD here." what do i put there? just C: or what?

thank you btw for all the hard work, a few adjustments and i may very well drop my OS gui and use this.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Omardude In reply to Zombie-Kangaroo [2010-03-05 08:53:25 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. As long as C: is the drive you want the System shortcut to link to, yeah.

Hehe, great! I know I've done something right when you don't use your OS gui anymore. ^^ If you have any suggestions, feel free to share them.

hehe, im usually not this bad with computer stuff, i mean, i learned html coding and i still cant understand rainmeter what soever. so i ask 2 questions/favors.

1-Where did you learn how to code rainmeter skins cuz i would love to make some of my own.

2-For time being if you have time, you should do like a youtube tutorial on how to setup "the interface v.02" that would be awesome if you had the tools and found the time to do so.

thanks

Omardude In reply to Zombie-Kangaroo [2010-03-05 17:37:40 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, I guess we all have our uses.

1) Basically, I've learned everything from modifying various skins and from reading the manual. I'm a pretty good self-learner I guess.

2) I'll definitely consider doing that, but first up is a complete .chm file (similar to the Rainmeter Manual).

Lolz okies dude, 1) there is no place to learn Rainmeter coding XD you just look and read! Its fairly simple really and if you are suuper interested email me and ill walk you through it! (private message me for my email)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Zombie-Kangaroo In reply to Bazerka [2010-03-06 05:25:27 +0000 UTC]

either way, there has to be SOME form of coding rule to follow, otherwise no one would know how to make said 3rd party skins from scratch, and lets say that they didnt make them from scratch, and they all started from one skin, well that 1 skin still has to have some form of coding structure for it to work. You would think there would be a document out there that could simply explain how a .ini file is written from scratch.

Hey, I adapted that for my screen resolution (1440x900).
I ended up modifying the ini, saving and refreshing Rainmeter for hours, until everything fits.
These formulas for positioning the entries really are not the best
Btw, I had to set my res in the .ini to 1680x700, most other resolutions I had problems with positioning the overlay, it snapped back to the bottom of the screen, means I wasn't able to drag it high enough to fit the cropped wallpaper...
Also, I modified the player, having the option to skip.

Now it's done, and I LOVE it!

Thank you very, very much for having the idea! Style is great! It's my fav Rainmeter theme atm!

Regards, Bonscha

Worry no more, The Interface v0.2 is now released!
In addition, a 1440x900 wallpaper is included and the skin
should position itself correctly.

Thanks a lot!

Oh and yeah, the positioning formulas were horrible. ^^

Yepp, you were right - it IS indeed a pain in the ass to configure it for another resolution. But that skin looks that good, that I couldn't resist so I've scaled it for 1280x800 Also, I've enhanced it a little bit:

What do you think of it?
And thank you a lot for this great skin!

Hey! I've been working on that, but it seems I would have to scale everything to get a desirable result. That would take a lot of time, but we'll see, maybe one day.

Omardude, first off i wanna say this thing is just ____ing awesome. I'm sorta new to this thing, I changed all the code and the text fields in order to get everything "personalized" to my needs. However at this point (and even before I started customizing) the links on "the interface" aren't clickable. Is this skin compatible with Windows 7? What could I be doing wrong here?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Omardude In reply to missionman13 [2010-03-04 16:24:23 +0000 UTC]

Thank you.

Well, I've run into this problem before, I'm not sure why it occurs, but in my experience it had nothing to do with the skin.

However, if you still have the problem, check out v0.2. It handles most of the links differently.

Well, the next update has been delayed for a while now as some of the new features that are being implemented are rather complex and a lot of the code has to be rewritten.

Some of the aforementioned features are:
1. Automatic positioning relative to screen resolution. (Needs more testing)
2. File browsing capabilities within the skin. (Done!)
3. Generally decreasing the users need to alter code. (Approximately 75% done)

However, I feel confident that the next version will be ready within next week.
