No doubt a true story for many a Thracia player.And if you haven't played Thracia yet: yes, healing staves can miss. On top of everything else that game throws at you.
Ah, if I had a dime for every time Painter IX closed out on me while working on this.

Trying to puzzle out how this would work gives me a headache. XD I suppose resistance could play into it, as with staffs like Silence and Sleep. But that just sucks.

The faces in the final panel are absolutely priceless! I love how your work can always bring a smile to my face, although sometimes I do feel guilty since some of your pieces are derived from real pain.

Thankfully I discovered that little fact in a non-critical moment! And by the way, how is that even possible? They're only RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU. AND NOT TRYING TO DODGE. It's like saying "whups, I accidentally put the bandage on your nose man, my bad."
Though Nanna's face is great. Exaggerated, but still the perfect embodyment of "we're screwed" and "hate seeeelf". Also the fact that you only see a tiny piece of Eyvel's face and she still is clearly MORE THAN A LITTLE UNHAPPY makes it even better.
I actually really like the backgrounds-they give us a much better sense of place than actually chapter five, which is like "OH A SPOTLESS AND IMMACULATE WHITE COLLESIUM AIGHT". And the random baddies are also really awesome! Just that big grin on the crazy sword dude really makes it.

I guess it's more like the healing spell/staff charge FAILED. Nanna just didn't have enough spiral power. Or she has TERRIBLE hand-eye coordinate.

WELL it is Fire Emblem. The background's primary purpose is to be a playing/battle field, not eye candy! Putting in a pile of fallen warrior bones would mean making a 1 DEF 10 EVA space, and they ain't giving Eyvel no cover. MAN it's been too long since I did the sketch. I don't know if that big ol' grin was supposed to make it into the final product or not, but present-self liked it.

Upon further research at Serenes Forest, it turns out the healing spell misses are due to a low skill point value. So the answer is clear! YOU HAVE NO SKILLZ NANNA.

I guess you could get away with only so much SCENERY PORN on the SNES anyway! AH HA HA but that would be a hilarious great if they could somehow pull it off. Put a space with little pixel bones all over the place. Do you have any idea how old the original sketch was? And it only adds to the appreciation of that mad smile!

Unlike every other game where healer's don't need skill and so don't bother (but then you promote them and they DO but their skill is just abysmal MIST, RHYS I'M LOOKING AT YOU). So it is bad hand-eye coordination. 8D Poor Nanna!
That lady can do so much, but I love her faces more than anything. Okay, no, I couldn't pick one thing I love above the rest, because there's a lot I admire. hiimdaisy does crazy comics about Metal Gear and other stuff and how they make the eyes go wide is totally rad.
No I don't! Because for some reason when Painter saves the "Last Updated" AND "Created On" dates get overwritten?? D:

SO BASICALLY when you just sit down and get to it, Thracia HAAAAATES YOOOOOOU. So much. OH YES those two. And it's not just them! I don't think I can remember anyone other than L'Archel in healerland where you're guarenteed a good skill score (oh RNG'd Natasha *hand wring*). So yeah, bad coordination and HAET.
Aaaaah, she does sound incredibly awesome! I'll have to check out at least a couple of her drawings sometime. For some reason, hiimdaisy's stuff looks really familiar to me. Maybe it popped up when I was TV Troping sometime?! Though those faces can get pretty awesome.

Also, the mercenary who attacked our poor protagonist seems awfully excited about it. Then again, pretty much every bad guy in Fire Emblem enjoys killing.

They're in some kind of arena, so that swordsman is probably a gladiator. He probably gets loads of money to kill people, so he certainly has something to smile about.
