Ooooh I got ranty. I mean, you do want to look at the stats for this game, but, honestly! There's just so much elitism in the FE fandom. I once saw something argue that it was an utter waste to NOT completely level up Mist using bonus experience because, on promotion, her staff rank is automatically bumped up to C, thus you'd have wasted all those stave uses if you sent her out on the field. Oh. My. GOD.I think the reason there was such an uproar over the removal of Maniac Mode from Path of Radiance, despite the Japanese gamers complaining that it was impossible to beat, was because all this hyper attention to stats would've have actually been useful in it.

Actually it won't matter. Speed is SLIGHTLY more important for mages than STR. Cause even if illiana has 15 str, if she has 20 speed a 5 str 30 speed soren is better. Plus forging down weapon weight is fairly cheap.

So true!! I can't see why some people treat pretty bad some characters only because "they aren't the best in their class" , some time ago, I was in a FE forum, but I left it because people bothered me, only because I use Innes in Sacred Stones, he is my fav character...

I laugh every time I read this. I just went onto a FE forum and read a few pages of people trying to figure out who was better, Guy or Lyn. Seriously. Who cares? I use Lyn because I love her and her supports (especially with Kent, but also with Wallace and Florina). I like Guy, too, but he always falls flat when I attempt to use him.
Seriously, though, they had like, eight+ pages of stat comparison/growth rates/support arguing... "Florina doesn't want Lyndis. She wants Fiora!" WHAT? Sense? Where are you?
I understand they think FioraxFlorina A support benefits both characters more than LynxFlorina A support, but regardless, it's insanity. Too bad the thread was locked. Heh. At any rate, it kind of saddens me that people buckle down to figure out things that don't even matter. You can ace the game with S ranks without bothering with any of that. It doesn't matter. So this is funny. I still think my favorite part is Rebecca's noodle-arms. (Out of the two archers, I use Wil more often, except when he supports with Rebecca. SERIOUSLY, I know I would be called all kinds of things for saying that. -_- But I like Wil! He's adorable. ♥ )

Oh jesus christ I feel the exact same way. Actually, LOLSTATWARS is about half the reason I left the RD boards on Gamefaqs (the other half being mostly everyone there were twats and every other topic was LOLPAIRINGWARS or THIS GAME IS TOO HARD/THIS FE IS BETTER THAN THIS ONE etc).
I've put a ridiculous amount of time into the series in the last two and a half years since I started playing; if I recall right, I've beaten the different games about 16 times if you put all my playthroughs together, and I STILL don't understand how people can act so "hardcore" about it. It's not even fun like that. I usually can't stand talking to other FE fans even about which units I use because I've been told I'm an idiot for using Soren and Oscar and the like time and time again and it just pisses me off.

But comparing them makes no sense, everything pretty much evens out if you bother to get people to level 20.

I always use AS MANY MAGES AS POSSIBLE because magic wielders pwn.
I mean, I use Rhys, Mist, Ilyana, Soren, and Tormod all in the same battle!
I actually really love characters with speed. It means they can dodge (right? Speed does do that right?)
Although Louise wise, I only used her a few times, usually because my Rebecca/Wil/Both are already snipers and pwnaging those wyverns anyway (but yesh I luv her *_* and her support convos are so love)

I can't say I've ever used all the mages at once (although I surely have in the GBA games...), but I've certainly done similar with other classes (paladins notably). My personal obstacle is that Soren is usually level bajillion when Ilyana and especially Tormod join. It feels uneven. But I can see the benefit of a mage army. Mmm hmm, that's the smell of armor melting in the morning.

Mages (and Paldins too) got way less ownage on PoR and RD. Like I left Erk and Serra out in the middle of a bajillion enemies and by the next turn the enemies were all gone with Erk and Serra without a scratch. I have to be a lot more cautious with Soren, Ilyana and Tormod.
But I usually have all the mages out together because I want mage supports (because they're funny)
Ilyana: Soren, you can't die! You and I have broken bread together!
BURN ARMOUR, BURN TO THE GROUND. OR GET OWNED BY GREEN WIND.

Many classes got shafted in Radiant Dawn because you just can't count on evasion anymore. 
Have you played the fourth game? The ultimate one-mage army is Tinny with Lex for a father. She's not only a tough little mage girl, but she has Ambush (ALWAYS strikes first) and Wrath (ALWAYS criticals with less than half health). Murderlicious.

Yeah. I was like *sends Rolf to kill wyvern* And it barely did any damage D: WTF T_T I think the only thing that works well against them is thunder? (While pegasi have wind and arrows to kill them. ugh).
I remember playing the last chapter of FE9 and my Soren was level 20. And I was thinking "yeah I'll just leave him out here because he can probably dodge everything" and yeah. T_T. I guess it does make the game much more challenging and fun in a lot of ways but I do miss my tank-ness of evasion sometimes.
No I haven't played the 4th game because I suck and have only played the US-released games and have yet to work out how to use virtual console on the Wii >_O Lol with Tinny, it sounds like the harder thing is to get her on less than half health xD
And I thought skills were something first used in FE9!!! *feels ripped off* xDD

Thunder. I suppose if you shill out the money you can get some wyrmslayers, but I have a tendency to be broke in that game.
While you no longer can put your mage or swordguy on a tree and watch the limbs fly, I've grown new love for armour knights. Gatrie + Provoke <3.
Skills were in FE4 and its companion game FE5, but Path of Radiance drew a lot from those two, particularly the latter. The second movement for mounted units and escape missions (FE5) were also borrowed. Skills were limited to what the characters came with though. Also dancers in FE4 affected all four units around them, which I think is where Reyson got that awesome laguz-form-only skill.
I'm one of those people who highly doubt, despite how much people love it, that FE4 will ever have a VC release outside of Japan for having both jarringly different gameplay aaaaaand incest. :/ And breeding an army is WEIRD when you get down to it. But people still have their fingers crossed.

I generally for some reason hate buying expensive stuff (only sparingly) because I'm like "yeah Mia can kill them with an Iron Sword anyway so..."
I agree with the armour knights though. I still didn't use them that often because I'm like GODDAMNIT MOVE (I should invest boots on Gatrie one day) but man he and Brom were so much more useful than Oswin or Wallace or Gilliam.
Reyson has it in Laguz-form only, but Leanne affects 2 and Rafiel always affects 4 <3

The incest in FE4. Let's see, for the first half of the game the big bad's goal is to manipulate half-siblings into getting married and having a kid, and he succeeds. Lachesis and Eltosian are (half-?) siblings and really into each other. Altenna and Arione have tension going on but then Altenna finds out they're not really siblings (but before she can share the good news they're on opposite sides of the battlefield- snap). And then when it comes to shacking up the characters, there's a lot more. Sylvia and Claude's love conversation is something like, Claude: "You know, I used to have a half sister but we got separated at an orphanage. She was a lot like you." Sylvia: "Man what a coincidence I grew up at an orphanage." >_>
It's kinda like that and also like breeding Pokemon. You think, "Man, if I hook up Lex & Sylvia that means their kids Leen and Corple would have Elite/Paragon and also some great defense. But what if I want to focus on Corple's magic and Leen's speed... Is hooking up Ayra and Holyn overkill since the twins are kickass as is, or is it worth it to combine the Meteor Strike and Luna Strike skills..."

MUST COMMENT ON THIS EVEN IF IT'S AN OLDISH SCRAP
I'm not gonna lie, I'm a total stat whore. Ask me the strength, magic, speed, or defense growth of any given FE7-8 unit and there's a 90% chance I'll know it off the top of my head - it's tragic. I like to think I'm pretty generous about the characters, though. I always whore Mist out on the field because for me because promotion+Sol+Sonic Sword=freaking beast. She's a good healer too; only buffing her EXP with bonus points seems silly to me. But to each their own!
I've never understood the prevailing OH GOD REBECCA IS JESUS AND EVERY OTHER ARCHER SUCKS mentality. Wil's always been pretty cool for me. I don't get the Louise-hatred, either. She's hot; plus, for the die-hardstat-whores, her growths aren't bad at all; besides which...she's hot. (That's always the most important factor in my FE7 army ah ha ha.)
BUT ENOUGH ABOUT ME. This rant is awesome, haha. Your drawings all look like they were done so effortlessly. The lines are all nice and flowy...

Personally I just use characters for their personalities and support conversations. Supports are what make Fire Emblem...Fire Emblem. I like to figure out who's who and what's what. If they're an iffy unit to begin with, I'll just train'em up and make sure they CAN survive on the battlefield. Boost stats if you need to, but stats aren't the only part of the game.
This makes me laugh.

Hrm. I really just kinda care about the plot and the characters. The game is fun but... I.. uh.. pay absolutely no attention to stats. (This could be why the game takes me a little more time to complete.)

This is very true, though. Some people like to say stuff like "It isn't worth leveling-up Mist. She sucks!" or "Rolf is a great charater to use. Make sure he's one of your strongest charaters!!" or something like that. I actually find Mist quiet useful and I can't use Rolf because he only does 6 damage total. If I were to try to lower the enemy's HP with another charater, they kill him.
I don't really get what weight has to do with tomes, but I've equiped Soren with Thunder and he fights just fine. Like you said, you could beat the game with pretty much ANYONE.

The point set here is great. Me personally, I try to stay away from the already upgraded units my first play through, but minus that, I try to give everyone a chance. (Minus Marcus, he really needs to die. And Marcia's brother-he's just plain creepy...)
I loved archers and mages to an unhealthy extent (Pegasus knights, too) that most of the time, I end up with little to no armored units XD But that's besides the point, I never had to choose between Wil or Rebecca, I ALWAYS had BOTH of them in my party. Same goes for Soren and Illyana.

I usually spare myself the moral dilema by just using both Ilyana and Soren.
But still, it does get really annoying when I get my face chewed off for using Astrid as opposed to Rolf or Shinnon 'because here strength is too low'. And when I use Marisa as opposed to Joshua for the same reason. Don't use Lute because she's too slow! Don't use Rhys because he dies too much! Your mad if you try to use Sophia at all! You use Ulki? What are you sick?
And I enjoyed all the drawing imensly. I loved the archers one. And the Louise drawing was lovely.
