Description *Strigoi are malicious parasitic spirits. They can take hold in a dying person, most often a child. Possession starts out dormant, and the host will generally recover like normal; but if the strigoi wakes up it will fight for control. Signs of dormant possession are surviving likely fatal injuries, and bone spurs or “horns” as a physical reaction to the strain of repressing the strigoi from taking control. The only sure way to kill both the host and parasite is dismemberment. If only the host dies, the strigoi takes over.

It seems i may have heard about this Strigoi before... i have! Strigoi! Okay.. those are from Romanian folk lore, they are associated with vampirism

It's sort of based on that idea, though I've altered it a bit. In their world, the condition basically got it's name from its similarity/association with the folklore, it's not exactly the same thing, but close enough that people started calling it that.

ooohhhhhhh ._. i like this idea, yes! Man, you thought of EVERYTHING for this world! I would have never thought of things like parasites! Especially basing one off the Strigoi O_O is it basically like a like a spiritual parasite, or is it a physical thing too?

This world and everything is something that I've had sitting in my head for about ten years, so yeah, I've thought out most things by now. It's not 100% without it's flaws and plot-holes, but I think by now I've gotten close to patching most of those. XD
It's mostly a spiritual parasite, as long as the host doesn't decline much physically and mentally. If the host does start declining, it may result in some physical effects. In Adrian's case, he's physically and mentally stable enough that he has yet to feel any effect, and is actually skeptical about the whole concept (sort of like an atheist may feel about religion), he kind of thinks the entire canid side of is family is insane, and that them thinking he's got a dead spirit leaching off hims is just another one of their crazy ways of thinking.

I wish i could do that, i kinda keep switching from one story line to the next with similar themes every 2 or 3 years... ive had several stories ive invested time in throughout my life, and i still know and love all my characters, they just fade form me sometimes. I have a problem where i know how i want a story to turn out, but i have no idea how to get it there... or i take to long with an idea and someone else busts out something super similar :/ Then i feel like shit because i wasnt first and look like a copy cat

I get the religion thing. that makes sense. Like... theres one other pagan at work, making us the only two. And shes a really enthusiastic, spiritual pagan, and im more a cynical, scientific pagan, but with that whole eclipse thing today, she basically drug me out in the parking lot with a pair of those glasses to go look at it, i'll admit, it was hard to be cynical when she was SO enthusiastic about it, she just lit up! People have different ways of looking at things.

I've always been the opposite, I've tried to write other things, but I always ended up pouring all my ideas into this one, that's sort of how it go so big.

Oh damn, I forgot all about that, I missed it DX
I'm sort of the same way. I like a lot of that stuff, and think some of the ideas are pretty neat, and it'd be cool if it did turn out to be real; but I can't just make it believable in my own head just out of having faith in it and/or wanting to believe.

Hey, thats not a bad thing, not at all! It means you found your heartline and your purpose already. These guys and this world is in your soul at this point and its awesome that you can so openly show it to everyone

Yeah, no one would shut up about it here, i figured id see pictures online later or whatever that would be better that seeing it in person anyways
My husband calls god the sky monster, or angry sky daddy which i think is hilarious XD his family is very christian and he respects that, and they respect that he basically says hes undecided. Its hard to believe in a caring god when theres so much shit in the world you know?

It actually did take me a long time to get to this point of posting it publicly. I'm actually still really secretive about it in real life.

I sort of noticed at one point it looked like it got darker outside, but I don't check the weather and it's common for the weather to quickly shift dramatically here, so I sort of dismissed it as a storm blowing over. It only occurred to me later that that's what it must have been. I also don't have a pair of those glasses, so it's not like I could have gone out and looked at it anyway.

If there's anything out there, I can't bring myself to think it would be some conscientious, sentient being. An energy force or something is the most I can rationalize as a possibility.
My family is Catholic... I've never told them that I'm not, and I know they want to believe that I am, but I think they'd have to be really dense if they at least suspect that I'm not.

Yeah, when i started writing i would hide my stories in a binder, up in a tree where i was the only one who could get to it. My cousins knew i wrote because they walked in on me using the printer once (i never saved anything on the computer when we only had one) and they got ahold of it once and went running though the house looking for my mom and shouting that they had the next chapter of my story. ._. i was mortified and tackled them on the stairway....

I dunno, my husband says hes undecided on religion, but that he feels weird about denouncing belief (not that anyone has ever asked him to) but he has no problem with the amount of blasphemous jokes me, my friends, and even he make. Im pagan, and my family is Lutheran. We just dont talk about it and everyone stays chill for the most part. My mom is one of the saltiest people i know and occasionally she'll get on her soap box and try to act all holy, but everyone knows shes sour

I didn't at first, but then my parents would take even my most absurd ideas and hound me about working on them seriously so I could make money, as if my idea was going to make millions and be their meal ticket and the only reason I wasn't a child millionaire was because my lack of ambition. Things that I just came up with for my own entertainment couldn't be left alone until they'd sufficiently sucked the fun out of them. By the time I started with these characters, I'd learned to keep everything from my parents. Then throw in how personal this project has become to me, I'd really hate to hear opinions from people I know in real life, it feels like too much pressure. So therefore, still no one knows.

Most people are taught religious ideals from such a young age, that even if they don't believe in them, it's so forced in and hard to totally drive out of mind. The mind set becomes a habit basically. I'm agnostic at most, but still catch myself having thoughts that are clearly influenced by what I was taught, even though I rationally don't think those things are true at all.

Ohh dude, that sucks so hard I hope you can keep this one from them. Its not fair to put so much pressure on your child... Thats some mega bullshit It hurts to have to hide things like this, and it hurts to have those feelings of "maybe this one will make it" or whatever bs they tried to push on you... but you know... id buy a copy if you got published.

Eh, superstition runs deep. Its impossible to escape it entirely

I'm just convinced at this point that my parents are fucking nuts, I barely talk to them anymore. They actually did find it once, a long time ago. My mom was searching through my stuff and found it, I caught her and got it back, but they made a really big deal out of it, threatening to kick me out if I didn't show them and tell them about it. I didn't and they eventually forgot, sort of... It was really weird and I still don't understand why it was such a big deal to them.

Well, most of my characters only have between 3 and 7 listed family members; there's just one family that's bigger than the rest, that all the ones that do have a 10+ long list are all part of XD

Thank you! ^^
Yeah, all my non-human characters have sharp teeth like that... and pretty much all my main and/or re-occurring characters are no more than half human XD

Hey, at least it'd be less corny than some of the pun-named dispensary. I've been to one named "Highway 420".
