Edit: Trying to get around to adding alternate forms to my shapeshifter characters' pages. At least the main ones. Kind of been lacking in time to lately, we'll see what happens or if I can manage to work on anything else in the meantime...

I like the contrast in his appearance compared to most everyone else. He has clean, (mostly) untattered clothes, and even a cleaner looking face, in terms of the different colors. He clearly cares a lot about what other people think, judging by his appearance alone (of course, I already know this to be the case, so that might have something to do with it).
I love the tail between the legs; you can tell he doesn't think highly of himself at all and is very submissive.
Almost feel bad for the poor guy. He really just was born into the wrong family; poor thing.
So why is his and Vilkas's relationship becoming so strained? Β I mean, I assume having an exiled brother would strain your relationship a bit, but it's gotta be beyond just that, I'd think.

As far as his appearance goes, he's only accustomed to living among the upper class, even though his family is also known to be made up of high ranking fighters, he was never cut out for it (which just adds to his family's disappointment with him), which is why in comparison to even the high ranked members of his family, he isn't all scarred up. He tries to compensate for otherwise being considered useless by being blindly obedient, and has never had to really struggle or fight for anything in life.
His relationship with Vilkas becoming strained has been an ongoing thing since they were kids. Vilkas started hanging around with Twilight and often spent more time around her family than his own, which sort of got him immersed in the lower class lifestyle, to which Crescent is completely ignorant of. By the time Vilkas ends up living with Beijeye, they barely relate to each other anymore, Vilkas almost entirely shuts Crescent out after Beijeye died.

Well you definitely showed that well. He doesn't at all look like a fighter or someone who would try to stand up for himself. Mr. Prim and Proper, don't wanna break a nail because then my family might not accept me over here. XD
Yeah, I can see that. Crescent just wouldn't get Vilkas; they're basically worlds apart from each other in pretty much every sense of the phrase.

Yep, rank and/or general emotional expression. I also draw their ears position varying depending on expression; though it's a lot less noticeable when it's their more humanoid ears, usually just slightly more perked up or down.

Thats very cleverΒ Β i applaud your attention to detail. I really do wish i had more time to draw, i was getting better there for a bit. But i see your stuff and it keeps me wanting to practice. You are doing very well
