Description
*Strigoi are malicious parasitic spirits. They can take hold in a dying person, most often a child. Possession starts out dormant, and the host will generally recover like normal; but if the strigoi wakes up it will fight for control. Signs of dormant possession are surviving likely fatal injuries, and bone spurs or βhornsβ as a physical reaction to the strain of repressing the strigoi from taking control. The only sure way to kill both the host and parasite is dismemberment. If only the host dies, the strigoi takes over.Edit: Trying to get around to adding alternate forms to my shapeshifter characters' pages. At least the main ones. Kind of been lacking in time to lately, we'll see what happens or if I can manage to work on anything else in the meantime...

I just spent a huge amount of time reading all that, and I can't imagine how many time *you* spent writing and creating this character. He's a very interesting being, and everything about him makes me curious and wanting to know more!! (that's sort of hard to do, XD).

They basically are just dog-people shapeshifters. Technically I call them canids, but in my head, I more often just think of them as "dog-people". XD

Yeah, that's Twilight. Sometimes the bodies may still have something worthwhile on them, or there are black markets for body parts.

I have heard of Skyrim, though (I'm not that much of a shut in). Some of my friends were obsessed with it for a while, but I've never played it. Isn't there a character named Vilkas in that game, or some similar game? I've seen fanart on here that looked Skyrim-ish, but I was too lazy to look it up.

Because Vilkas just means 'wolf" in Lithuanian, or at least that was my reason. Yep, I was super original when I came up with that one...

Well, in their society, it's mainly families with money and/or power that are more likely to be larger.

Honestly makes sense though. You can afford to keep them all fed and clothed. Here its kinda the opposite, less fortunate families tend to be over run with kids.

In their society it's also sort of a power thing; there are more heirs to hold up the family's position in the event of a death, if one of the children not being "suitable" for whatever reason, they are not stuck relying on that one kid, they have others they can choose from.

Pretty much. Canids and felids have a much stronger animalistic instinct, so survival/maintaining a higher rank is generally their priority.

If it's a canid territory, the majority of the population is going to be canids, the minority of other races that may be living there are not automatically lower but are going to have the same types of problems that go along with being a minority in any society. Same would go for human society, for the most part. Felids and most other races do not have established social systems of their own.

Vilkas has a design that really matches his personality. He looks like the reserved type, a little skittish almost. Interesting to see that he's a host to some insane parasitic spirit, which can cause him to lose control of his own body at any time. I also like that his family holds political power in Sylkrey, the very place he was exiled from.
