My Little Pony : Friendship Is Magic (C) Lauren Faust and HasbroSpecific character design is (C) WingedHippocampus
EDIT: HA HA HA! Three years later, there really was a fruit-vampire-bat-pony thing. I'm totally psychic.
...this is Nikki-Nicole-P 's fault.
I didn't want to watch this damn thing. Now I'm adapting a character to it.
His name is now Fly By Night. He sleeps all day and then some, he tells bad jokes, he unsuccessfully hits on the ladies, he watches and laughs at horror movies. Just like regular-flavor Farren, his base character, his eyes are incredibly sensitive to light, which is why he keeps his 'do in front of them as a shield.
In this universe, I guess he sucks juice out of fruits (pissing off Apple Jack) and vegetables and probably eats the occasional bug (or Parasprite, lol) Goji wants me to call him a Vampony. xD
Not sure if he should keep his original powers like sonar and energy draining. I'll probably just stick with his superagility and leave it be at that. (He doesn't move fast very often, but good luck hitting him if he's in the air. He makes millisecond directional changes. He cannot, however, airsprint for long distances like Rainbow Dash, he'd probably die trying xD)
May also come up with some bullshit or other about him being a servant of Princess Luna. (Edit: Since making this, bat-winged ponies working for Luna have been confirmed canon, hooray!) His refusal to call anyone by title or treat anyone with social grace will probably make her kill him, though.

You captured a lot of character in his poses. If you took away the Z for the bottom left one and added a squiggly line of frustration, it would look like he had just done a face plant into the floor! XD I know I have a sad sense of humor.

Egads, ponymania is everywhere now. Is the show that good? I've read about it, and it's apparently actually good, with a snappy script and all. Not what you'd expect for what was originally a girl's toy marketing outlet.

Seriously. The character's well-designed, well-drawn, fits the FiM universe surprisingly well, and just seems like the kind of good, well rounded fan-character we Pony fans don't see enough of, IMO. I particularly like his vampony-esque tendencies, because they add a real flair to his character without overselling it. TOTAL

Thanks. |D I'm happy someone actually in the MLP fandom likes him. My original test audience kind of ripped him apart for having Special Snowflake Syndrome simply for the single fact that I opted for bat wings over feathers. Because...you know...with the nocturnal lifestyle, sensitivity to light, heightened sense of hearing, eating methods, and the fact that the character he's based off of is a bat...he's kind of a bat.

Complaining about the bat wings seems a bit overly purist to me. I guess if someone was seriously trying to make an extremely canon-seeming FiM roleplay or something, I would understand that complaint. But to me, one of the points in pony OCs is being a bit crazy with their designs. It doesn't bother me at all if pony OCs don't fit into any of the standard pony 'races.'

I ended up being compared to teenage girls who slap fox tails and kitty ears on their ponies. So I just dropped the idea and backed off, retreated back to my own fandoms. If that's anywhere near the prevalent attitude then it's not really the fandom for me and I should stick to what I know. But yeah, I was told he needed to have feathered wings, which seemed obscenely contrary to his behavior, but...yanno.
I'm all for constructive criticism, but I was a little hurt because the person who made the weeaboo comparison is someone who knows damn well I don't make those kinds of characters. I don't do things without a good reason, and thought I'd been pretty well justified in going a little further. It was really the last person I'd expect to be a purist over it, so I was just kind of ambushed unprepared by the attitude, which led to me ending up butthurt.
But, yanno, aside from the first two episodes, the whole thing's really fluffy, which is enjoyable for a cartoon but would get old fast in an RP anyway, so it's just as well.
The person apologized later, more for making me feel bad than giving any kind of justification beyond 'just because' for the reaction, but the damage'd been done, butthurt was gotten over, and I'm now happy to just watch the cartoon and not take my fandom any further than that.

...Wow. I'm sorry. I don't think that makes any sense at all, and I wouldn't think that's a prevalent attitude among pony fans. I actually like the bat wings and I can't see him with feathered wings. Wouldn't fit his character.

I s'pose I can see that, but I find that reaction to the bat-wings a little silly. I've seen other Pony OC's that just sort of randomly stick on other animal traits 'cuz they like that other animal, which is fine but sort of silly. Farren, though, has perfectly understandable reasons for having bat-wings, and all things told I actually have a hard time picturing him with traditional pegasus wings for that very reason. Plus it opens up lots of fun story possibilities when you think about it. ^3^
