Description

The Night Before Perry revealed the Catalysts' to Ms. Hopps.

Zootopia Laboratory of Professor Miles "Tails" Prower, 9:00pm.

Judy sniffed the air as her and Perry looked over files in Professor Tails office Laboratory, no one else had been here yet. Perry ran a black light over the files one by one looking for something specific.

Judy:"This makes no sense. Why would Professor Prower steal an Emerald HE donated, from a Museum in the dead of night and then file a complaint to get it back?"

Perry showed her a copy of his financial company stats.

Judy:"He had no holding in insurance on it so it can't be money...they'd let him test on it so it makes no sense for him to steal it for science. I don't think he did it Perry...I mean he's involved but...he wasn't the one who hit the Museum."

She turned the next page of the file, showing that Prower was never registered in the bank of citizens, the birth certificate seemed to be in order. Everyone knew he was born with two tails, a defect. Very rare.

"This still doesn't explain anything about the "Green ghost" or how...whoever did this, was able to get passed security, or short out the sensors.....or nearly take all the guards out without showing up on any of the camera's. I mean you'd have to be invisible to- "

"You got, Mail..." came the voice on Tails' laptop.

Both Perry and Judy looked at the bright screen and opened the file, the header made no sense but Judy squinted. She'd had this in class.

"It's a code..." she said, scrolling. "Every fourth and fifth letter...then a number...."

Perry leaned in close too.

"It reads...." she said, "From L. Who's L? From L...the Catalyst is a fake....Pull out. Download file to flash drive immediately."

She pushed the link, but it wouldn't open. It could be download though, and there was a flash-drive already in the computer. She pushed the button.

Perry rubbed his beak, something had dinged to him.

"A fake?" she continued, "What's that mean, and what's this word Catalyst that keeps popping up in this case? Does this mean that Tails is the thief AND the murderer, or this L is?"

Perry shook his head narrowing his eyes, and took out the last file in his arms, it was photographs. Still images, like one's you'd find of the Loch Ness Monster, or big foot, but of street corners and roof tops. They showed blury images of...the shape of a spikey...person, a hedgehog. It was hard to tell, nearly looked photoshopped, like it was see through.

"These are outside the science building...." Judy said, "He knew he was being watched by whoever this murderer was..."

The download completed and she pulled the flash drive out, but in doing so, she knocked over a picture as she spun around. She hurriedly leaned over the table catching it.

It was of Tails and his...girlfriend...wife? She didn't remember him being married or dating. And...she didn't resemble any animal she knew.

"What's this...?" She said tilting her head. Perry looked over her shoulder at the photograph. Sure enough, there was a nob on the corner of the frame. He turned it.

Suddenly a beeping was heard, and part of the wall hissed and opened, revealing a testing room, within the testing room. There was an emerald shaped hole in one of the pedestal's inside.

"What is this place?" Judy said walking inside with Perry. There was a big red button on the side of the wall inside, and multiple computer screens flickering.

Suddenly the lights in the laboratory except for the testing room went out. "Power outage!" Judy said.

"Warning, intruder Alert...." came the automated voice of the lab, as a siren went off.

Perry immediately clicked and typed on the computer like a madman, making the email delete as well as all it's history.

"Perry?!" Judy questioned before leaning into her talkie:"Officer Hopps, Sixth floor, what's your Ten?" All there was, was static. She leaned into it again, "Officer Judy Hopps do you-...?"

She looked at Perry who had just slammed the laptop down shut, with a wide eyed look of worry, before grabbing her and yanking her further into the room with him. He the red button on the wall with his arm the moment they passed it.

"Perry what are you doing?!" Judy exclaimed. Then she noticed a large glass/steel door lowering down as the sirens proceeded to blare.

She looked at all the screens inside the room repeating "Forwarding data, forwarding data....forwarding data."

Perry simply backed up with her more, as outside they heard screaming, and weapon fire, and things breaking outside the room, and an eerie green light coming down the hall, sparking like fireworks.

Judy yelped as her and Perry saw a pig scientist fly through the lab window, and lay motionless.

Suddenly the front door to the laboratory burst down, and whatever was banging around outside crashed through in a burst of green. It looked like green lightning, ramming into the glass like battering ram that made Perry and Judy fall backwards from the room shaking.

It proceeded to spin there like a wheel or a yoyo against the door, as if it were trying to saw into the room. Finally it sped around the room in a circle, making papers fly, and things over turn or crash into the wall before finally ramming into the door again. It made a resounding sound of a lightning crack when it did.

"What is that thing!?!" Judy said. Perry just stayed in front of her defensively with his side arm out.

Finally the lightning ball stopped spinning and just stood stalk still in front of them, but still vibrated like a tuning fork.

They could see it was definitely a person, a hedgehog....glowing eerie green. He was moving too fast to make out exactly what he looked like, like a static blury image, with only their lighting up their face. It was the Green Ghost. So he wasn't invisible...he was fast, making a vibrating sound like chopper wings.

She could see over his shoulder that the computer had recently been opened, and searched. In the whirlwind the ghost had evidently accessed the computer, realized what they wanted was deleted and was now looking covetously at them.

Perry just kept his gaze, frowning back , defiantly. Judy held the Flash drive tighter in her paw.

Suddenly they heard police sirens outside, the Ghost jerked its head to the side hearing it, then in a flash of green was out of the room in a flash, making lightning crack and papers and chairs fly again.

The screens in the room went dark again, and the power seemed to come back on room by room.

Judy held onto Perry gasping for breath, not realizing she was holding her breath till now. Perry patted her back, which she took thankfully, then pushed his arm away suddenly.

He wasn't completely surprised by the look on her face, "How did you know about that button?" She said.

Perry blinked, he was mulling around inside to find out how to say something. "He, he knew you....or you knew him... didn't you? Or you've met before..." Judy went on.

Perry sighed and nodded. His eyes were apologetic when he opened them.

"Don't apologize to me Perry!" she said, putting a firm paw on his arm. ".....Let me in....on what this is." He glanced at her paw.

"Or do you still not trust me even though you've been trying to protect me...?" she finished.

Perry took a deep breath, looking down, then met her eyes again, this time with determination, and her answer; it was time to tell her everything.
